Recent crime in our area has my wife wanting a gun. She dosen't like my G26 or BHP (both double stacks) because she has very small hands. I was thinking something 9mm but I'm open to other options. So, what is a good gun that is not horribly expensive that she could put a couple hundred rounds at the range though comfortably. Ranges around here do not have many demo guns for her to try.
Thanks

Kel-Tec PF9 can be had for $300 NIB in most gun stores.

S&W 39-series or the 908 might be a good option as well

The Sig 239 is slim and you can even get a "short trigger" option installed on it.  It is also very easy to operate the slide.  My wife had one for years.  She recently stole my G19.

My Walther PPS is very slim and it has the ability to change backstraps on it which may help with the hand size issue.  The PPS has a crunchy trigger pull and the slide is a bit tough to rack (stiff springs).

The Smith 3913 is a nice little rig.  The Ladysmith versions of that pistol sometimes have better trigger pulls on them.  A used 3913 won't break the bank.

Or the compact versions.  3913, seems to me there is a compact version in value line as well.  Model number escapes me at the moment

I carry a PF9 and while I love how thin it is I do have two complaints.

1. Reliability. I've had several FTF and FTE. I still carry it in situations where the alternative would be no gun but I'm looking for a replacement.
2. Trigger. When the trigger resets I have to nearly pull my finger out of the guard for it to reset. Not a problem at the range but in a self defense situation it may end up being a single shot.

Hopefully I will find a replacement at the next gun show in a week and a half.

I'll suggest the Walther PPS, girls seem to love it.
The Sig P6, which if you find one, is not expensive at all, and then the Sig p239.

How well do Kahrs shoot in terms of recoil?  My gf likes the look of them....I may be out the money for one soon!

Recoil can be stiff, but not unmanageable. You have to grip them firmly or they might slide around. I find the recoil of a hot load in a J frame to be more objectionable.

H & K P7psp or Sig P6 / P225 both are very safe and easy to carry and shoot.
The P7's slightly heavier weight helps reduce felt recoil,
