I was originally thinking of getting a Trijcion RMR but the $600-$700 price range is pretty high. Any one have luck with the Vortex Viper, Vortex Venom or the Burris Fastfire 3. Both of those optics are around $200 and seem to be pretty solid. I would be using the optic for EDC and for some USPSA or 3 gun shoot.

I've seen people mention good experience with the Burris. I went with the Rmr 02 and couldn't be happier. Buy once cry once....Good luck.

Eta: You can find decent deals on used Rmr's on the EE

I have a Fastfire 3 on my G34 MOS I'm very happy with it so far, I've got 1 USPSA match & about 500 hundred or so rounds on it with no problems, it zeroed in easy.

That being said it's the only red dot I've ever shot with a pistol.

This. Plus you can get a new RM05 for example for more like $450.

The Burris Fastfire 3 is a pretty solid little optic though. Just not quite what I would want on a defensive handgun due to a couple lacking features.

Yup, got one from the EE for $300 with box, papers, wrenches and an ADM co- witness mount. Shop around and be patient, a deal will pop up. You mentioned EDC, if you're trusting your life to it money shouldn't be a determining factor within reason, of course. If it's just a range toy the others are great sights and priced right but personally I'd stick with an RMR for EDC. I went with the dual illuminated model as it is one less failure point (no batteries) and couldn't be happier. Not sure why I waited so long to put a RDS on a pistol but I'll be adding them to more of my shooters soon.

Keep an eye on EE used optics. Found my RMR 01 for $350. Built like a tank.

I don't know where you're shopping. I had my local shop special order me an RMR for about $480. I was super close to ordering directly from Trijicon with their mil discount, but would rather support my local shop, so paid the little extra.

Dude, I was thinking the same thing...  He obviously doesn't want a RMR and to make it sound more reasonable he prices it at unreasonable prices to justify buying cheap...........  I see what you did there.

I shot my friends Vortex Vernon 3MOA it was pretty nice and another friend of mine has an RMR variant.  I plan to do the Vortex because of their warranty and cost.

I have a Deltapoint pro mounted on my g19. Due to my astigmatism I went with the triangle or "delta" reticle. In full sun with my glasses on its sharp and clear, at night or low light it blooms. Not enough to where I wouldn't take a shot at 20 or so yards, but beyond that I'd be hard pressed. Going on about 6 months now on the original battery set and left on the second to highest setting. I like the optic but it does sit a little high on the gun. Haven't had a chance to shoot much with it on, but I should have an update for,you all next week sometime. I paid $530 shipped and was one of the first the get the optic in Washington state. Nice little optic.
