Hello,
I just picked up some 124gr.JHP bullets, and reloaded 50 rds. for testing. To my disappointment, I am sad to report major feeding problems with this ammo. I then tried one of my extra Glock mags and discovered the same feeding problem. Pleae note that my Glock functions flawlessly with FMJ ball ammo. Are Glocks ment to shoot hollow point ammo? ( LOOKS LIKE THE HOLLOW POINT BULLET IS SLAMMING INTO THE FEED RAMP AND GETTING HUNG UP.) Thank you in advance for all your replies.

my guess is that you need new magazine springs. Never seen glock not eat HPs myself.

My Glock 19 is fairly new, along with two Glock mags I received. I doubt if my model 19 has more than 650 rds through it. I can't see the problem being with weak springs. It's barley even broke in.

I'd bet about 5 bucks you have 2183 followers in those mags.

Check them out, there should be a number on the top of the mags it's probably 2183 or something like that. If it is then call Glock up and ask politely for 9mm marked followers and they'll ship them out free of charge.

Hope that's your problem.

No offense, but when someone says "my gun worked fine with factory, but chokes on my reloads..." I suspect the reloads.  Check the load data for the specific bullet and compare overall lengths.  Id be inclined to believe this is where your problem is coming from.

I had the same problem with GD HP in my Glock 19. The rounds were catching on the bottom edge of the feed ramp. This happened with numerous mags, new and old. I still have not resolved the problem. Post this over at glocktalk.com and see what thay have to say. The follower issue might fix the problem-change them to 9mm1's or 9mm3's.

I have yet to see any HP bullet fail to feed in any of my numerous Glocks over the years, from any mag I had, new or old.

If you reloaded your own.... thats the first thing I would suspect, is your round.  Perhaps your OAL is off.

Otherwise, try some factory stuff and see if you still have a problem.  Glocks are known to eat about anything.

Lumpy,
I would like to thank you for your reply, but I doubt the problem is with my reloads. 90% of the ammo that my Glock and my other firearms digest, are reloads. To date, I have never had a feeding problem related to my reloads. This whole feeding problem has me baffled, I always thought that Glocks would digest anything you fed them. I guess I was wrong.

Eladeflow,
I just checked my Glock mags, and the followers do indeed have the # 2183-1  stamped on them. So are you telling me I have the wrong followers in my mags? Thanks for your reply.

Not the wrong followers but followers that will cause feeding problems with hollow points. Do not ask me why Glock decided to redesign the followers, but call them up and they'll send out 9mm followers for free, I did the upgrade just so I wouldn't run into problems down the road. So far 1000+ rounds through my Glock 17 and not a single problem. Every mag so far has been perfection.

When you get your followers if you're trying to disassemble Factory ten rounders the squeeze method is pretty hard compared to Preban mags so I used a pair of padded vice grips.

Yep I'd definitely say it's the followers, head on over to Glock talk and they'll tell you the same. Glock will square you away, tell me if you need the number.

Lumpy is right, take your pistol apart drop each round into the barrel if they fit fine, then like SGB says it may be the mags.

I just got off the phone with GLOCK, and talked with there tech support, I told them about my problems using hollow point ammo, and they said they would send me a pair of new mag followers for my GLOCK 19. If you want my opinion, GLOCK is top notch in my book. (I'll keep you all informed on the outcome.
