Looking for a frame for my latest Government build, be nice if it already had the plunger tube staked.

I've been through Brownell's, right now the STI is at the top of the list.  Fusion is made by STI and would be okay, but I already have one.

Not interested in Essex or Armscor.  Foster is currently sold out.   Remsport from Sarco is a contender.  Doublestar is further down the list (saw one at Bud's old store for close to $300 yesterday).

Any other options you guys can think of?

Did you call Springfield?  It's not on their site, but they may sell a frame.

And right now Les Baer and Wilson are in the competition.  A little spendier, but ready for a .250 radius beavertail is tempting.

Not really sure if I care if the front strap is checkered or not.  Have both and it's not a dealbreaker either way.

Brownells also sells them.  If you have an account there, you could save some $$.

What happen with Essex. Are they moving the production plant?

Yep, got an account.

$213 for a Caspian vs $268 for a Les Baer vs $170 for a STI.

Decided just to upgrade my 1943 Colt.

Before:

During

STI Classic Slide.  Meant to order without front serrations.

TRG TICK Rail

Think I'll stipple the front strap, fit Ed Brown beavertail, then paint the whole thing digicam.  What you think?

Provided your 1943 M1911A1 is all original you could sell it and buy what you want. Even if it is not all original today modifying an old war horse is considered by many to be taboo. I know back in the day military 1911s were modified often as they were cheep and easy to acquire, however the times have changed and military 1911s are very collectable even if they are not all original. It is your pistol and you are free to do with it as you choose.
