How do the major 1911 makers make their frames?  And where do they get them?

For example, aren't the SA  frames investment cast by IMBEL in Brazil?

All the MIM talk about small parts got me thinking about frames.

They get the frames and slides from IMBEL, but they are forged.  I really don't know the rest, though rumor has it that Smith and Wesson has been forging frames and slides for some major manufacturers for years.  Colt, Kimber, and Springfield are all forged, both frame and slide.
