Have you guys noticed how few accessories and "kits" there are for H&K's as opposed to Glocks and 1911's. No .22 conversion kits no real mods available ect...
I have a USPc with a light and thats about it for the mods |

There are millions of Marlins out there but only a handful of accessories available. Yet there are a ton of 10/22 accessories out there. Why? Because the Ruger needs them & Marlin's don't as they're good to go. |

Various sight manufacturers are not making sights for the H&K guns because they don't make up enough of the market to justify the investment. Safariland does not make a duty holster for an HK45 with a mounted light because, and this is directly from the mouth of a Safariland sales rep, it's too small a chunk of the market. Kind of difficult to argue that HK's don't need lasers, a wider variety of replacement sights, or holsters. H&K's market share limits the number of holsters and accessories for their lines of weapons. H&K is looking to change that in the future, but it's the truth for now. |

Allow me to retort........................ Crimson Trace isn't the only laser mfgr out there & there are in fact others whom do make lasers for the H&K models. I've seen the ads for them & seen the pics of them on H&K models. I'm not into lasers in any way, shape or form so I can't quote you models & pricing. As for the Safariland, I note the HK45 is a somewhat newish model when compared to the USP series, so I think you're being a tad bit disingenuous there when comparing that, IMO. As for the light mounted holsters, I would tend to think that they make them for the majority of the models that LE adapts. How many departments are using H&K these days? I bet it's less than 10% & it wouldn't surprise me if it was less than half that number. So on that point, yes, it wouldn't be economically feasible for a mfgr to crank them out. As for sights, I haven't had any issues what so ever finding sights when I was shopping for replacements on my USP's. There may be some sort of shortage with a new design or something but for the usual Trijicon nights sights or whatnot, I have yet to see an issue there either. I look forward to your rebuttal. |

What you're left with, however, are teh ones that mount to a standard rail on guns like the P30 which generally suck donkey water to put it mildly from a control, retention of zero, and use standpoint. The CT design is far superior to anything else on the market and that's why they dominate the market. The rail mounted lasers also make it that much more difficult to get holsters for the guns. As for the Safariland, I note the HK45 is a somewhat newish model when compared to the USP series, so I think you're being a tad bit disingenuous there when comparing that, IMO. It's been around about as long as some of the other newer options on the market...and yet Safariland makes holsters for those other options in a wide range of styles. How many departments are using H&K these days? I bet it's less than 10% & it wouldn't surprise me if it was less than half that number. So on that point, yes, it wouldn't be economically feasible for a mfgr to crank them out. ...that's exactly my point. They make up a small chunk of the market which is why the aftermarket for them is very limited. It has nothing to do with everybody agreeing that they come from the box being perfect. As for sights, I haven't had any issues what so ever finding sights when I was shopping for replacements on my USP's. There may be some sort of shortage with a new design or something but for the usual Trijicon nights sights or whatnot, I have yet to see an issue there either. Standard Trijicon sights suck. I never use them. I was thinking more along the lines of the H&K P30, and for a long time Heinie was the only company putting out decent sights for the pistol. Thankfully Heinie's straight 8 sights are some of the best available. Those looking for other options would be disappointed. I look forward to your rebuttal. H&K themselves will tell you they are a limited portion of the market...as I said earlier, that's something they are looking to change. Pistols like the P30 are, by any objective standard, excellent handguns...but when you select one you are also going to get all the baggage that comes with it like the more limited accessory options, less widely available parts and armorer support (although the P30 only needs armorer attention and part replacement every 25,000 rounds) and more expensive spare magazines. |
