I am verry interested in the kimber custom 2. I have never owned a 1911 before but currently own 2 glocks and am looking for something different. I continue to hear mixed reviws on the kimber custom 2. I figured i should post here and get some feedback from people actually own it or have experience with it. How do you like your custom 2? Hows is the finish holding up? How does it compare to the higher end 1911's?

-Thanks for the info

I love mine.  Carried it for a long time.  Very reliable.

Finish isn't as tough as I would've like it, got alot of holster wear from a few years of carrying.  But that's no big deal to me.

Great pistol.

This is mine & I love it. Your going to find out
theres something magical about a 1911. I've got
several Glocks & they are just pistols. Nothing special
a 1911 seem more like a family member. There is
nothing to come close to the fit & feel in your hand.
Something else when you get your first & go shoot
your first thought will be? I want another one!
I added the MagTech magazine well & aluminum grips
to mine thats a great add on.

Yeah, I've put an ambi safety on mine, Trijicons, Walnut grips and grip tape on the frontstrap.  It's perfect that way.

Thanks for the feedback guys, would you say $699 is a good deal for the regular custom 2 (not stainless.)? Or can it be had for cheeper?

That is a pretty fair price. I bought one in august and paid just under that. I just put mine through a 650 round state qualification course with no failures of any kind. I did encounter four bad rounds that for whatever reason failed to go off. I only had 50 rounds through it prior to firing the 650. It is very accurate and reliable and it is my uniformed duty weapon.

That is a good price nowadays for a new one.  I paid a little less for mine, new, but that was a few years ago.

Get it, you'll like it.

I have only had my Custom II for a few weeks now, but I love this weapon. I have another 1911a1 model (Auto-Ordinance) but it is nowhere near the quality of my Kimber Custom II.

the kimber custom II, imo, use to be a very decent "production level 1911 w/ "custom" features"

h/w, with the kimber prices nowadays, less (than previous) stellar CS AND QC...i'm more inclined to pass em up; i'd only consider used kimbers w/ the internal extractors myself

besides that, the triggers on the kimbers are NICE for a production grade 1911; finish wear on em sucks; fit and finish is pretty good

there is NO comparison to a "high end" (as in semi-full custom) 1911 and a stock (or any) kimber; a semi-full custom 1911 is hands over better
