Does the Colt commander use a full size frame or a mid size frame?

A "Colt Commander" uses a full size or standard frame

This is conflicting info. One post says it used full size or standard frame the other says the dust cover is shorter. A shorter dust cover is what I consider a mid size frame. A small frame is a shorter grip and dust cover, ala officer model.

Which is it?

SGB is correct. The standard Colt Commander has a full sized frame the same size as a Govt. model; however, the dust cover is shorter. There is a slight internal difference in how deep the area is releived where the recoil spring guide sits also as I recall. Also seems to me I remember a difference in the bbl configurations between the Govt and Commander. JD
