I have a Colt Python I bought in the 80's I would like to know what year it was made. I have googled it but I have not been able to find it. I really hate to have to pay Colt 75.00 to tell me. Anyone know how I can find out ?

Thanks

You don't need to pay Colt anything to get a date of manufacture.
All you have to do is call during normal business hours and they'll give you a date over the phone for free.

If you want any more info, then you have to pay for an Archive letter.

Also, Colt is working on a serial number data base on their site.  This doesn't yet have most newer serial numbers, but does have most older numbers.

Proofhouse, it's a fantastic site to date the age of Colts.
