While this is a technical forum, this does have some significance for things like future products, warranty support, and the landscape of the gun manufacturing industry which drives what we have available to us as shooters.
It should be noted the other publicly held gun companies, notably S&W and Ruger, are doing pretty well. Colt has their own unique problems that led to this. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/gun-maker-colt-files-chapter-112818907.html |

1911s, ARs, Colt Pony .380s........?
Colt's competition is also making them, and kicking their butts when it comes to sales as well. Colt needs to design and manufacture some new firearms that aren't already in the public domain. It would be difficult, if not impossible for Colt to enter the plastic gun market at this time, and that's a huge problem for them. |

For a $100 more than the SIG, and we have the same SIG in 9x19mm. What do you think I push?

Springfield did just that by commandeering the Croation HS2000 and morphing it into the XD series. If Colt had stepped in and done that ahead of Springfield, Colts future would have been a lot brighter. It makes me wonder if there is a high quality plastic pistol being made somewhere in the world that Colt could buy and "make it theirs". Just think if there had been a "Colt XD" at some point in time and how it would have sold (probably hugely). Makes you think. |

Yeah, they are trying to sell to Sciens Capital Management. I was hoping Remington Outdoors would buy them and start making AR's more than just a select few folks might actually want. You want remington to buy colt?
They'd be better off with Taurus at the wheel |

WHAT? I didn't know they lost the contract. Yikes. Quoted:

I get the impression that it was poor debt decisions and the loss of the M4 contract to the Army that did them in. WHAT? I didn't know they lost the contract. Yikes. Link to story about FNH beating out Colt |

They'd be better off with Taurus at the wheel Heard on the financial news Remington Outdoors had an excellent sales report this last year. Hmm. I wonder why? DPMS and Bushmaster aren't even close to bankruptcy. Just don't understand. I'm sure Sciens will fix all Colt's problems. |

The r51 was a smash hit The remington 700 has a long history of being reliable and safe The 870 express has the best finish ever seen on a gun, ever |

Didn't say why. Just stating facts. I do find it interesting folks would rather have a financial group take Colt over than a gun manufacturer. Incidentally my firearms purchased from Remington have all been 100%. Sorry. Yes Remington had a problem with one gun they introduced. I guess Colt has never had a problem?
An interesting tidbit: http://www.ammoland.com/2015/06/colt-manufacturing-led-charge-for-gun-control-in-1990s-now-bankrupt/#axzz3dMnTupUH. Worth reading for some, not so for others. |
