Looking for comments from anyone who carries a Sig P229. How does it carry compared to other autos? Heavy? Bulky?

Not bad to carry at all, if you get yourself a good holster and a good belt.

If I carry mine it's with a shoulder rig. Too damn heavy for my belt. My belt carry is a 239 40s&w
but the draw back is I just have 8 rds

You need a better belt.

As Rik pointed out, it's all about the holster and belt. With a good quality holster and belt, one could carry a 105mm howitzer around all day with no discomfort. Spend the money on quality! A lot of us have a box of cheap holsters that just don't work. There is a reason quality leather costs:

It works and works well...

There are a lot of quality brands out there. Personally, I started out with a Galco F.L.E.T.C.H. for my P229 and was not very impressed. I invested in a Mitch Rosen 5JR and I am very happy with it. In conjunction with my Wilderness belt, I can wear the pistol all day and it is like it is not even there.

I have no problem wearing my 226 all day long in Galco belt holster and a cover shirt or vest. The 229 should be even easier.

I carry a 229 in a bianchi holster. I carried a S & W 6946 before. Its a little bulkier but not uncomfortable. Like previously stated a quality holster and firm belt can go a long way. You cant go wrong packin a 229.
