| Ok, I have searched my brains out and don't understand exactly what this is. Sorry for being a noob, but can someone elaborate for me? Maybe a picture or link? TIA |

Yeah... that definitely coincides with what I was saying. Find a "Hard" 90 degree edge on a bar of soap... especially after a week of use. all the edges are melted/beveled/or rounded on the gun ETA: take a look at some well-worked customs like the ones Pistolwrench makes and posts pics on. Then compare them to a stock Springer pics, and you see the jaring differences in factory edges vs the smoothness of a custom with a melt job. |
That's about the most Xtreme carry bevel there is -- Clark's "Meltdown." A gun with a standard carry bevel will not fundamentally differ from an unmodified 1911 in appearance. |
I think thats the "soap bar" they are talking about. the standard one would be more of a quick cut, if you have the money do the soap IMO. |

Here's a SA Champion with a complete though "mild" carry bevel job done by EGW. The top is a "before" pic....compare it to the "after" pic on the bottom. The pics aren't the greatest, but if you look at the leading edges on frame and slide and you can get an idea of how subtle the bevel is. This is hardly a "soap bar" bevel but it does make the pistol more pleasing (at least to me As others have mentioned the changes are subtle. However, you would very definitely notice a difference if you handled this pistol next to a stock Champion. ![]()
