Can a Glock 20 be converted to fire .45 with a barrel and mag swap ?
Or do I have to swap parts into a model 21 to shoot 10mm ? Im looking to get a 21sfrtf2 so if it swaps over to 10mm that would be great. If not I might try and pick up a gen4 model20 and get a .45 barrel and mags. Thanks in advance |

You cannot put a .45ACP barrel into a G20 slide, and a .45ACP case head would not fit into the breech face of a G20 slide which is made to fit a smaller 10mm case head. There are a few companies who make 10mm barrels that are made to fit into a G21 slide, Storm Lake is one of them. KKM made them too but I don't see an option to find them on their website any longer.
http://www.storm-lake.com/products/barrel#top I've never used one but you'd use a G20 magazine, and because the G21 slide has less mass than a G20 slide but they both share the same recoil spring weight, if shooting hot 10mm loads you'd probably want a 22lbs recoil spring. You'll probably have erratic ejection, I heard of a modification that you can do to a G21 extractor to make the ejection better when shooting 10mm but I can't seem to find it now. I don't know for sure but if I had to guess the extractor modification is probably removing a little bit of material from this surface(in blue), allowing the extractor claw to reach further inward: http://www.apextactical.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/3D-Render.jpg |

Results on the 10mm conversion barrels have been inconsistent. I tried a KKM and never could get it to extract reliably. No matter how I modified the extractor, there was still no extractor tension on the 10mm case. Others have reported 100% success. I often wonder if 100% means the same to everybody. |

I just went on Gunbroker and purchased a G20 complete slide for 300 and swap uppers between teh G21 and G20 in a few seconds. Upper cost about 125 more than a conversion barrel and is more reliable. Sounds like a bargain to me, and absolutely the most reliable way to go! |
