I just purchased a NIB CZ P-01 and I pulled it out of the wrap that it came in and started to dry fire it. I didn't do a detail cleaning or anything like that before I started dry firing it.

My question is; when I pulled the trigger, either from hammer down or trigger cocked, if I rode (sp?) the trigger forward after depressing it, it would not re-set. If I let the trigger go and didn't ride it forward then it would re-set on it's own.

Is this normal for a CZ to do this or do I need to do a thourough cleaning before I suspect any problems????

heres a question for you.  If you dont do all of the stuff youre doing and just rack the slide back and let go, does the hammer stay back?

If the hammer doesnt stay back, then you have a problem.

also, there is a "half cock" position too.

i think youre ether not pulling the trigger past half cock or you have a defective gun.

No the hammer stays back and drops to the half cocked position. If I either rack the slide or just pull the hammer back, and then dry fire it and ride the trigger forward it does not fully re-set. It has gotten a bit better since dry firing it. I made a short video of it, I'll try and post it...

Well, i would say something is wrong.  your trigger should reset.

i would try it w/o you mag too.  it shouldnt make a dif, but i think you should return it to the place of purchase and ask for a different unit.

CZ will fix it for you, but if the dealer has another one, let them deal with it.

Well I had the dealer order it for me, so I know that they don't have another one. I did take the mag out of it and try it that way and couldn't get it to do it. I think I am going to go shooting this weekend so we'll see what happens. If it does it once while I am firing then I will contact CZ immediately and see what they'll do.

you should have 2 mags with the gun.  i would mark one mag and keep note of it.  if both mags do it, i would say its not good.   you can shoot it, but i would just send it back as-is so they can see for themselves.

look on their web site for instructions.  IIRC, you will need to get an RMA, but if you call them, the in house smith should answer and be able to tell you what needs to be done.  they may send a call tag  too.

also, enclose a note with the gun so they know what youve done and what the problem is with it.

Well I went ahead and called CZ's gunsmith and he was really nice and helpful about the whole thing. He told me to dry fire it some more and to shoot it and see what happens. He said ther could be a small bur in there and it might smooth over with firing. He also said if it does do it when firing then call him back and he will send me a shipping/return instructions. He said they would be more that happy to take care of it for me. So that is a +1 for the customer service so far. Like I said, I am going to shoot it this weekend so we'll see what happens.
