Short barrels, big bores, lots of power!

Custom S&W 625 45 Long Colt, 45 ACP, 460 Rowland, 45 Winchester Magnum

Custom S&W 629 44 Magnum

S&W 629 Combat Master 44 Magnum

S&W 325 PD 45 ACP

S&W 696 44 Special

This last one, well, it's not quite a snubby, but the barrel is under 4" (3 7/8"), and it's not quite a big bore...

S&W 610 10mm

I've posted all these pics before, but I was bored so I thought I'd start a new thread

I REALLY like that first piece. Mind if I ask what it set you back?

Dude, this thread should be labeled GOTD (gun of the day).
Its nearly gun porn.
Those are some beautiful wheelguns. Especially the 696.

The original owner was asking $750, which was about 1/2 what he had in it.  I traded him a Para P-14 LDA with 3 mags and $165 for it. Let's just say I got a good deal

This is my S&W M296 with Farrar grips. You know when this 18.5 OZ revolver goes off. Regards, Richard:D

Ok, if 3 7/8 is a snubbie and 10mm is a big bore -

I included the 10mm because it's pretty much equivalent to a 41 Mag. And I have no clue why S&W is shipping the 3 7/8" barrel models. Perhaps they had a slight error in the production and ended up with these "not quite 4"" setups. It's only in the 10mm guns, AFAIK.

I think it does a little better if you compare velocities from short barrels.

I'm launching 200gr. XTP's @ 1200fps.

.357 magnum snub

.44 mag 4inch barrel

Not too snub nosed, but it's a 15inch barrell on a 30/06 hand destroyer

Nice Belly Guns!

I sold off my 4" S&W model 25 45LC to a buddy to buy an UZI.

Very cool, looks good.

Was there any secret or did you just file/grind it to shape? The reason I ask is because I really want a 610 to shoot .40s in. as well as 10mms.

No secret. Just a belt sander and polishing wheels (I make Knives). Be carefull not to get the barrel to hot. I'm not sure if that would hurt it or not. I just kept it cooled to where it didn't stars to burn my fingers.

Here's my 325PD.  The Hogue grip makes it a pleasant shooter.

Obviously the remote snap button is mounted to trigger.  Why else would she have her finger on it?

It's all done with mirrors, if it makes any difference. I actually thought it was a pretty good picture.

BTW, what is that thing you are shoving in your mouth in your avatar?

Obviously, that's Ogre saying "NERDS! NERDS! NERDS!" into a microphone in LHD's  avatar...

But...

I meant to post/ask this in another thread the other day.  Does anyone else (after being on here a LOT) use their peripheral to identify posters, i.e., you become aware of who's posting without having to look left and focus on the avatar?  I'm able to do that most of the time, but I swear LHD's avatar looks just like Pangea's ("Buckwheat") avatar to my peripheral vision even thoughthe two images bear no resemblance - I had to do a double-take in that other thread more than once.  Anybody else, or just me?  (Or am I spending too much time here?... )

Does it kick? More like kicks your ass! Whenever you shoot the weeds on the range go down from the cuncussion of the bullet flying, it kind of looks like when tanks fire and all the grass goes down for like a second. It really is a mans gun, we gave this beast to an "experienced" hunter or so he said, he shot it the correct way but didnt hold onto the forend too well and the gun almost flew out of his hands!

And it is mighty loud too, with 30/06 and a 15" bbl, its hard to miss. Not to mention the flame that comes out must be like 10 inches long.

My God,  A 30.06  T.C.   How does it kick in your hand?
