Just got a Colt Combat Commander, SN 70SC311XX. I know the "70" means a series 70 but I can't find any thing on the "SC" part of the serial number.
Any idea on age?

Thanks,

G-36

FWIW.  File this under: Miscellaneous Colt Trivia.

If (big IF) I remember this correctly; the “Commander” was introduced with an alloy frame.  People liked the compactness but worried about durability so Colt introduced the steel framed “Combat Commander”.  Over time the steel framed version became THE “Commander” and the alloy framed one was then called the “Lightweight Commander”… go figure.

If I’ve gotten this wrong, I’m SURE somebody will come along and straighten out the “facts”.
