Who has one? Or had one?

What's your opinion of them?

Are they still being manufactured?

What are they worth?

AMT has a reputation for hit and miss quailty.  The DAO versions have one of the most attrociously heavy triggers you'll ever feel in order to extend the dwell time on slide lock up.  That combined with no sights and a stubby grip make it a bad-breath distance gun at best.

I had one of their DAO .45s.  It was gone the day after I shot it.

Way back (20 years) I grabbed up a .380 and it was a gem. Back then there wasn't much available in pocket guns. Bit on the heavy side and good factory mags were hard to come by but my gun ran very well with my "good" mags. I also had a couple of factory mags that weren't so good . If you are buying used try to get a test fire to check out the mags .
At this point in time I would have to look at something lighter and possibly more powerful like the kel tecs.
I have never laid hands on the .45 model.

Ihave to agree about the horendous trigger pull. Luckily, I tried one out before I
bought it. Well, actually, trying it out prevented me from buying it. High Standard
bought all of the old AMT tooling, and I believe that the Backup is one that is either
in production or will be soon. I'm looking forward to the AutoMag III myself...

Consider a Kahr MK9 or PM9 instead.

Good luck.
