ok guys... bought a used beretta 92 compact.
the supplied mag is feeding bullets right below the feedramp so im guessing that is a mag/mag spring problem. however, once i switched mags, i get stovepipes. whats the deal? any ideas? im using fmj ball ammo |
| Check first to make sure you have a factory mag and that it is assembled correctly. Is this a double column mag or single? (they made both in a compact version) Beretta factory mag springs rarely wear out unless they have had many thousands of rounds through them. Might, however, be your recoil spring. |

The best thing to do when you buy a used 92 is to buy a spring pack from Wolff springs. It's less than $20 and gives you all the springs in the gun. Worth every penny. Swapping springs is very easy to do on the 92. The spring pack is at the bottom.
Wolff springs/92 list A good trick to know with springs is that a #6 crochet needle makes a near perfect tool for springs on the 92. The hooked end helps position the springs and the bottom can be used for pins, etc. If you own a 92, and expect to do any work on it yourself, get the #6 crochet needle. |
