Have a stock 226, me thinks I'd like to improve the triggera tad.

Looked at new triggers, and hammer springs, and the SRT.

With out spending hundreds of dollars, what should I buy and put into my gun?

You'd like to improve...exactly what?
...The reset?  Install the SRT.
...The way it fits you?  Maybe consider a short trigger.
...The trigger pull and quality?  Send it to Sig for an action job.

Maybe you need to do them all.
Hard to say without knowing what the problems are.

Wouldn't say  I have a problem, just looking for better, more crisp maybe, lessen the pull for DA a bit, etc.

Replacing the hammer (mainspring) will give you a lighter DA trigger pull, a spring cots about $5 and most people can do it themselves.  There are plenty of Youtube video to show you how.

Wolff Springs http://www.gunsprings.com has a wide selection of springs.  You can always start there and work your way up to the other trigger improvements.

Sig custom shop will do an action job for $180 and the turnaround should be pretty quick.

You can change springs and lighten the pull, but you can also reduce the reliability of your pistol.
If you don't have a very good understanding of the functioning of the pistol and the way the springs and parts all work together, it's usually best to let the pros do it.

Swapping springs is easy enough, and easy to swap back if you don't get the results you want.  But that won't address the "crispness" of the trigger.

I would order a 17 lbs and an 18 lbs hammer spring. Try one and see how you like it. You can always try the other too if you like. SRT is really sweet and you can install it yourself if you want. If you do the SRT yourself you may end up voiding your factory warranty.

P226s are great guns!
