So I went shooting today at a local "bench range" and the range master (a friend of mine) let me take some shots at the 200 yard gong which is about 14 inches in diameter and 5 inches thick of some kind of steel or lead or something. Anyways I was able to hit it 15 out of 20 times with my glock 19. I was shooting 124 gr federal hst standard pressure, which I barrowed from another friend of mine and my hold over was about 5 feet or so.
I was pretty excited to do this. And they say Glock's dont have accuracy. Pssst!

...seriously guys, has anyone ever tried anything like this? I tried it after I saw Jerry Mcculuk or how ever you spell his last name shoot a ballon on steel at 1000 yards with what I think was a 9mm revolver.

I used to shoot my G20 10mm at 4x4 pallets that I used for nailing paper targets to at 450 yards.  I hit it sometimes, I don't remember a percentage of hits exactly but it wasn't very good.  It was easy to tell by the sound when you hit it.

My aimpoint was the tops of some distant trees.  I have no idea what the drop was and cross wind was a serious factor.

It was fun tho.  Kind of like hand held artillery trajectory.  It took a while for the round to get down there too.  Kind of like, shoot, wait, wait, wait, impact.

Its really fun to shoot long ranges.  My best is 250ish with a 17l and 17 with standard 115 ball.

I shoot my glocks at 100 regularly.  Never had the opportunity to shoot further than that.

I saw him shoot at 200 yards and took my 226 out and tried it. It's fun.

I commonly shoot at steel out at 200yds with my custom G20L and TruGlo TFO sights.  With my regular 165grn handloads pushing 1,400fps and the longer 6" sight radius, my Glock is easy to shoot out that far as long as I'm doing my part.  All I do is aim for the top of the plate.

That said, when I swap barrels and mags and shoot my 200grn 45acp+P loads that far out of it, it's like launching the rounds from a mortar.

my longest shot with my glock 22 is about 100 yards.  it's such a good feeling hitting steel from a distance with a handgun.

I am looking at the Glock 34 anybody have one. Is there much difference in velocity with the longer barrel; enough to expand bullets better.

Routinely with Glocks.  6-8 inch plates 100 yards, etc. at 150.

It is tremendous fun.

I hit a 10" plate at 200M with a HK45CT. Was ridiculous as I had to hold about 15 feet above the target. Looking forward to using 9mm
