If so have a Funsmith repair it!

TOOSHARP,
YOU SHOULD HAVE A CROSS PIN RUNNING THRU THE LOWER PORTION OF THE RAILS ON THE FRAME UNDER THE EJECTOR, POSSIBLY BROKE OR FELL OUT. WILL WORK WITH OUT IT, BUT MIGHT AS WELL FIX IT RIGHT!

I have a 1911 that was my most reliable pistol.

It's unreliable as hell lately.  The slide won't lock back on an empty mag.(I've tried several mags) and it's not the ammo.

The one peculiarity is that the ejector is wiggly loose.  The pin is still there but its loose. ????????????

I have had an ejector shatter, the long pin sheared off and the cross pin stayed intact...it was an aftermarket, unknown make, gunshow part.
The pieces can get cocked in their channel and all kinds of unhappy things happen.
Drive the cross pin out to check health of your ejector, it should be tight. At least thats a good place to start. Then, we can take it from there...

MARKM,
PUNCH OUT THE PIN, PLACE FRONT LEG ON ANVIL, WITH A LITE BALL PEEN HAMMER RAP LEG TO OBLONG SHAPE CHECK OFTEN. THIS WILL SNUG UP YOUR EJECTOR. IF IT DOES NOT SIMPLY REPLACE AND WITH A SMALL RAT TAIL FILE CUT A SLIGHT NOTCH AND REPLACE PIN.
