two of our families up at work lost people in the last couple days.  
one was a newborn.  just one day old.  he died in his crib in the hospital.
the other was the father of one of my buds at work.  the guy was 65 and about four months from retirement.
he had all his gear together to go on vacation and felt chest pains at work and collapsed.
they rushed him to the hospital and my friend made it to his bed side just in time to see him slip away.

it's a sad day at work today.

surprisingly my dad called this morning out of the blue and we talked for about half an hour.
usually when he or i call we only talk for a couple minutes.
