Have a 4x28 scope mounted on my Colt H-Bar 16 inch gun. Is there a simple way to sight in various re-loads up close so I don't waste  so many rounds getting it done at 100 yards? My boresighter is useless. Thanks.

Look up the published ballistics for the cartridge, one where the trajectory is given over various ranges.

At some point, your point of aim will intersect the bullets trajectory the same as it does at 100 yards. Use that shorter range to do your intial sighting-in.

Clear as mud, right?? [:)]

Zero at 25 yards, tht should put you 3" or 4" high at 100 yds.

Tighen the scope to the upper. Take the upper off the rifle, pull out the bolt and carrier. Set the upper on a table and look down the bore at a distant object. Adjust the scope crosshairs until it centers on the distant object. I like using the street lights at night.
