The foam may cause the damage on the way up, but any damage won't effect the Shuttle until re-entry. My guess is that the crack was in a spot where, if a chunk had broke off, it wouldn't have hit the shuttle. |
Ask yourself this: Who is doing all the talking about cracks and foam? The media - they want ratings. Nasa has been saying (until they are blue in the face) that the crack is irrelevant. On one hand, you are correct - on the other hand, things that fly ALWAYS have one or two little things wrong with them - some are important, some are not. Matt |
