Not just while they're asleep. I remember seeing my boss' Filipino wife come after him with a butcher knife one afternoon.

It was nice knowing you, buddy.  Dibs on guns, ammo, optics, motor vehicles, house, life insurance, and girlfriend

Seriously, take VERY careful note of the following.  Watch and take note of how the mother treats her husband, and take note on how they view you.  If the parents don't approve of you, and if you continue to date/ marry your GF, they WILL make your life a living hell.  They will feed horrible things to you, your GF, and your kids, to try to break you two up.  They will put a wedge between you and your GF/ kids, and it will be a living nightmare for all involved.  Don't buy into that "Oh, I will choose you over my parents"  crap.  It won't work that way in the long run.  If her parents  don't like you, and she is too attached to her parents, eject. In the Filipino culture, when you marry a Filipina, you often marry her whole family.

On the flip side of the coin, Filipinas are loving, dedicated, and the good ones will practically worship you as a husband, since conservative Filipino Culture has the Father as the Man and undoubted authority in the household.  Just make sure that she is ready to dedicate herself to you instead of her parents before going forward in the relationship.  I do not want to see "Should I eject from this Filipina?" thread from you in the future, knowing how things are first hand

Either way, I wish you two the best of luck!  100% Filipino, by the way, got any more questions, feel free to ask me how much more you're fucked

1:  Yes, watch out for the "haircut."  My ex-wife tried that while I was sleeping.  I haven't seen her since.

2:  Family structure IS different, and VERY committed.

3:  I miss my mother-in-law greatly.  I saw her on her birthday this last December 8 when she was on Wowowee on her 92nd birthday, and I cried.  She was the closest thing I ever had to a real mother.  Taught me to cook Filipino food, and made me gain 100 pounds in 6 years.  That woman could COOK!

4:  Good luck.

An offering to the beast Try bringing the mother flowers or some sort of gift that the GF approves of.  That should put you in favorable light

And yes.  Once you empty your plate, they'll make you empty it again.  No matter if it seems weird to you, even if they feed you the lap dog you were petting five minutes ago, IT WAS GOOD AND YOU ARE A GREAT COOK MAMA.

Also, are you a fit, slim, strong young man, I suppose?  Lean mean green killing machine out of the most Elite unit in the US Military?  Say good bye to all of that.  It is impossible to loose any sort of weight or stay slim on a FIlipino diet.  I have no clue how skinny Filipinas do it

The thread you may be remembering was when my Cambodian girlfriend tried to bite Lefty off back in 2008.

My ex-wife's attempt did not do any damage, and took place in 2000.  Yes, it was discussed on ARFCOM, but is not the stuff of legend like the actual damage that caused me to be unable to walk for several months, and have 4 surgeries.  Luckily, everything works.

My current girlfriend is a Filipina, but we have the South China Sea separating us, so I MAY be safe.

Don't do that unless you want to eat an egg with the now dead baby chick still inside. It's supposed to be a delicacy, but I puked everything I'd eaten that day, got a fever and pee'd out of my ass for four days after I ate it.

Yes, filipinas are very materialistic. If you marry her, you are marrying her entire family. I've never seen one where this wasn't the case. Part of the reason me and my ex fought so much was because I refused to support her entire 14 person family down to the three males of working age yet mysteriously quit working when I came on the scene.

I'm biased though. She's my ex because she's a scandalous whore and I got tired of the bullshit. Hopefully it works out for you.

If they are not trying to bring family over from the home land, you're in good shape.  My girl's mom is just ending that and it's a big burden off her folks.  Thankfully, my gal never bought into that, so no worries for me.

Yes, eat everything off the plate.  And it will be refilled many times.  And you'll be taking home leftovers.  Right now after my gal's family cookout yesterday, I have a fridge full of pork chops, burgers, tuna, tilapia, noodles, and who knows what else (it never lasts long either way - freaking delicious).

I'd say the largest source of trouble for us was splitting time with my family on holidays (which is a problem I think any couple has), but yes, she is very close with her family.  I bring in a divorced family, so we have to split things among the three and put a lot of miles on the car.  You'll have some, how should I put it, 'growing pains' with this, but we were able to work things out.  Just an extra dose of patience and it's all good in the end.
