| We're losing pressure in the house. My wife turned the water on in the tub and I watched the gauge on the pressure tank. It was on 30psi to begin with and the water pressure was still low. All of a sudden it drops to 10psi and the pump still does not kick on. I'm thinking a pressure switch problem but don't want to just start replacing stuff until I know for sure. Am I anywhere near the ball park? |
| Got it figured out. I changed the sediment filter and that seemed to fix the problem. Switch contacts close at about 28 psi on the gauge and pressure is normal now. I just changed the filter about 3 months ago and usually good for about 6 months. Shasta69,I live just outside of Palmer near the Butte area and most def on a well. |

Is the filter after your pressure switch, or between the switch and the pump. If it is the latter, then that is a serious problem, as the filter could clog and the pump
would run continuous, best case it would burn your pump up, worst case it could rupture your storage tank and or piping. |

been running the water a lot? you mentioned every 6 months. dry spell? differnet micron filter? have you allowed the pressure tank to drain to remove any
sediment. usually once / twice a year i'll drain the pressure tank. have this fine talc sediment that plays havoc with us during the dry times here in pacific northwest washington corner. lived in the southeast ak. had city domestic that ran colder than a stored pitcher of water in the fridge. tasted unlike anything i ever had. |
