I looking to get a spotting scope. I think the 20x60 magnification is what I want. Do any of you guys have any luck with a mid grade spotting scopes. I'm looking for an upper low grade to lower mid grade. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks

Go look at the Eagle optics at your local birds unlimted store - go and ask for a sale price.  I have some four or five stores in town - I got one to play - ordered it and had it delevered to my door.

go hang out on the Serivce rifle match - board.

good luck.

i just bought a bushnell trophy 20x60 at bass pro for 200. i like it a lot, i was using it last night to look at saturn and the moon. the moon was too bright, and saturn was nice and sharp, and i could see the rings. i just dont think much of the tripod, but that is an easy fix.

Picked up a $65 dollar NC Star spotting scope off Ebay.

It's a 20x60x60. Came with tripod, case, and laser that fits underneath to help with finding what you're looking at. I've found it's more fun to tease the dogs with.

I figured cheap scope and cheap clarity/view/etc. Nope. I was at BassPro over the weekend and looked through $1,200 swarvski or whatever they're called and this thing seems every bit as good. Even at 60xzoom I can read license plates from 1/4 mile away, and everything is clear.

Can't wait to take it to the lake with me and get out of the city to do some moon and planet watching. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but am really impressed with the price and performance.

If anyone is in the market for a cheap one, this is the one to get.

Look for a 60 mm Bushnell Spacemaster - I had one that I regret selling.

The other scope I would recommend is a Kowa TS-601 pr TS-501; get it from Jim Owens at www.jarheadtop.com
