Sportsmansguide has something similar however not as fancy but for around 15 bucks.  Thinking about getting one myself.

If shooting steel with .223, you need to make sure its high strength steel or else the rounds will penetrate the steel.  Most of the inexpensive stuff in NOT rifle quality steel.

Also, you should not shoot steel closer than 40-100 yard (depending on the target type) because of back splatter and ALWAYS wear eye protection when shooting steel.

MGM makes great steel targets, but it's top of the line stuff that's also expensive.  Buy quality and only buy once.  A great target is the auto-resetting mini-popper.  You shoot it and it pops back up so you don't have to walk down the range and reset it.

deerkillindad21,  I'd start by asking around any welding shops in your area.  They should know where to buy steel stock.  But they probably won't have the super-hard 500 Brinell stuff that MGM uses.

jmt1271,  I have one of the MGM Auto Poppers and it works great for the pistols.  Haven't tried it with the .223 yet, but the web site says it'll last a long time if you don't get too close.  The only complaint I might have with it is that it comes back up so quickly I sometimes miss the reaction behind the muzzle during recoil, especially with the .357 mag.  Ordered directly from them and it came the day they said it would.  I just looked and the prices went up since I got mine.    The Loli-Popper and Flash targets look interesting too, but kind of expensive.  I think the Flash target was used at some SOF matches.

I like Osama Bin Laden pictures taped to rotten old Halloween pumkins,(Seasonal Thing)  But I am in the Real Estate buisness (Not a REALTOR) and all those realty signs you see eventully become to bent and warped for real estate use, so I have plenty of paper holders.

Hey SinistralRifleman,
I just purchased that exact target! Do you own one? How many rounds do you have on it! I heard that MGM makes great targets, but a little on the high side. I hop that it lasts a good long while!

I saw a realy nice resetting steal target at the SHOT show this year. It was in the new products area. I forgot to get some info on it. Does anyone remember this set up and know who made it? It was like the one pictured above but the targets fell backwards and the last one would reset them.

Thanks.

How about this?

www.metaltargets.com/ResetTargets.htm

It resets when you shoot the white square. They offer a high velocity version for .223, .308, .30-30, .30-06 .45-70 & equivalents but specify that at the point of impact, terminal velocity can not exceed 3200 ft/sec.

They also have conventional spinners, knock over types, dueling trees etc.

How about a case of pop?  Buy the cheap stuff. $3.00 / 24 targets.

Buy good soda, drink it, refill with water.

But he was asking for self-resetting targets, not simply reactive ones.

The Tactical Tombstone one looks nice, but $1195!

I've seen several different .22LR targets with 4 paddles that swing up and then a 5th paddle to reset them.  I don't think anybody makes one that will hold up to anything bigger though.

Water-filled soda containers are fun as are tethered helium balloons, but anything that shows damage is great.

A great bet is to run around the neighborhood a few days after Halloween to collect discarded pumpkins for blasting practice. Rotten pumpkins are my targets of choice. That is, except when I feel the need to annoy obnoxious Republican windbags at the rifle range by dialing in on photoshops of their favorite public figures.
