[ARCHIVED THREAD] - iphone or android? (Page 1 of 3)

| For those who have owned both which do u like better and why? |
|
I've owned 3 iphones and 5 Androids. I could go on and on but really, both are great, both have their quirks. I personally prefer the iphone. I could give you all the reasons why, but I'll just end up with 10 guys trying to rebut my reasons even though they are based solely on opinion. Go to the store, play with both for a while. See what you like best. Just understand the limitations and major differences in hardware/software.

You know those 56k warnings you see? Those are for iPhone users. 4G like a boss. Hahaha I have an htc evo but i cracked the screen, so ive juat been lookin into iphones as a replacement. I do hate how thers no 4g. And i cant stand i tunes. But other then that i dont mind its os, and oids r more customizable but i dont really need a cool funky clock or moving backround n whatnot that droids have. |

I should use a cut and paste for these threads, there was just a thread that lasted into this morning.
Used multiples of both. iPhone 4 right now, waiting for new one later this year. MS Exchange and other business-oriented tasks are handled much better on iPhone. My androids both sucked at email and calendars. Battery life was awful on android (I guess that's why so many users say they like the removable battery, because they NEED the spare). I don't care about widgets or removable memory. I don't need a spare battery. iPhone is a cleaner, more polished interface and I'm happy with it. But android owns iPhone in the maps/navigation department. Android's google maps kick ass. Apple better get their maps shit together for the next one. |

I think iPhones blow, but if you are interested I'd wait for the 5 since LTE is about to be standard across all carriers. The iPhone 4s is way outdated for a current smartphone and the 5 should hopefully fix portions of that. Apple owners will deny that, but it's the reason all phones get updated models, and the 4s is on it's way out. |

What is lte exactly? And i gota buy a phone on craigslist or somthin, so its either an older samsung epic, which came out a month or so after the evo for 100$ or an iphone 4 non s for about 200$
Then when my contracts up in nov. I can upgrade. And from what i hear (which may be wrong) apple isnt going to unvail the new iphone till firat quarter of next year Quoted:

The iphone is still far better overall, but the maps app on Android is *far* better. |
| LTE is the 4G system most carriers use. I'm pretty happy with Verizon, but you'll pay for the privilege. You get signal in some fucked up remote places though. If you're up in November, I'd just wait until then. Go on Amazon Wireless and get something new. I got a Samung Charge for under a dollar, shipped two day, with a car charger from Amazon. Of course, that's with a plan. |

The biggest complaint about iphones (at least around arfcom) is that iphone users are dumb, gay, hipster, or any combo of the three. I personally dont give a shit if a flannel and skinny jeans wearing hipster uses the same phone I do. We both drink water too. Doesn't mean I'm gonna stop drinking water because that's what hipsters do. I've owned enough androids to conclude that they simply have no use in my life. I've owned enough iPhones to know that they work better than any other phone I've ever used or owned. From there, the math is pretty simple |
| My wife and son have iPhones, I have a Galaxy SII and until recently had an Evo. I prefer the Android system. I like being able to make any mp3 on my phone a ring tone without having to pay iTunes. I like being able to have a spare charged battery for long flights so I can watch a movie or two on the phone and I like being able to expand its memory by buying a relatively cheap micro sd card. |

Or a blackberry........ I've been on BB for the last six years. I got a Samsung Galaxy S II yesterday, wow, I did not know what I was missing. I thought about the iPhone but the wife has an android so I figured I would give it a whirl since she loves hers. |

If you own a Mac, then get an iPhone. The integration between my computer and my phone is seamless. If you don't use a Mac then, as others have said, it's kind of dealer's choice. There's folks out there that love each of them. Only way you'll know for sure is to get some hands on time with both. (Which is tough to do, I know.) |

Former Blackberry user here. A few defective Storm 2s & RIM's mismanagement convinced me to jump ship.
I'm on an Android now, first a DINC and now a Charge to access LTE. The Samsung Charge has a horrible battery life and the GPS is buggy. The phone randomly takes screenshots and reboots itself. For all the hate, Apple puts out a more polished product (even without free Google nav). My wife's iphone slays my Androids in terms of stability, battery life, and overall integration. Droid's sandbox is amusing until you realize the widgets & apps don't always play well together. ETA: not a fan of autocorrect, either. ![]() Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

No, iPhone users CAN'T do the same thing. You can buy and rig up some funky, half-assed addition that takes up lots of space and is hard to use that will allow you to recharge the battery and read a memory card, but that is not the same thing and it's dishonest to say it is. And there's some complicated way you're supposed to be able to use like two different computer programs to make ring tones out of songs, but that's also not the same thing. I don't have to do any of that with my Galaxy SII...I don't have to add any bulky, awkward additions or use any external programs. It's much simpler...and isn't simpler supposed to be the iPhone's strength? Well, guess not. |

You can see an icon on your screen saying there is 4G available, but your speed remains exactly the same as when you're using 3G. |

You USED to be able to make ringtones on iTunes, but Apple TOOK THAT AWAY with iTunes 10. |
