Where in my computer can I go to find out the maximum amount of RAM memory that the computer or operating system will support.
I recently tried to put in some additional memory and the task manager and the 'my computer' hardware window did not reflect the increase. Thanks in advance |

32 bit operating systems like Windows XP can't address more than 4 gigs of RAM. In linux there are some ways around it. eta: max supported by your motherboard can be found on http://crucial.com +1. Go to crucial, either enter your system info or run the tool on their website and it will tell you |

Unless you have a dedicated graphics card. 32 bit Windows won't even use the full 4 gigs, which is why you see many new computers still being sold with 32 bit Vista coming with 3 gb of RAM. I found that out the hardway, although ram is so cheap these days lossing 1GB is nothing. |
