I've been looking for a rifle for work. I have checked out a couple of Armalite, Stagarms, S&W and Bushmaster. This will be the first AR I've bought so I'm looking for recommendations on brands that are MA compliant.

I'm a law enforcement range so basically police work in the woods. It has to be an AR and it has to be 556. I also want to use it between seasons at my home range in mass so it has to be mass compliant. I already have a remington 870 and a sig 220 for work but the rifle I am issued 30+ years old so I'm looking for something slightly newer.

Just cause a weapon is 30 yrs old doesnt mean a damn thing.  I highly doubt that there have actually been many rounds thru it.  The AR platform is over 30 years old, even if you buy one tomorrow.

I'd go with....

LWRCI

LMT

BCM

or

Colt

In no certain order.

BTW I have a BM and love it, but I still need to put M4 feed ramps in it (it feeds fine as is though).

Similar we do all the game enforcement, fishing enforcement, camping enforcement, traffic enforcement, off road vehicle enforcement, domestics sometimes in the camp grounds, people growing/manufacturing drug on public lands, pretty much deal with any and all crime in national parks.

Stag, model 2.  Just over 1k through mine and only 1 malfunction, using the crappy original mag.  Fit, finish and trigger are good.

+1 Although I will say that I am partial to LMT.

Are you bothered by the cosmetics or does the rifle not function properly?

Don't get me wrong - buying an AR for personal use is a good thing.

I'd recommend building your own.

Call Yankee Hill Machine. They are in your state and work with LE from what I hear.
