You violated the Gun Control Act of 1968.  That's a federal felony.  Since the gun was invoiced to the FFL's number, the ATF can trace it to him.  It is required that he report your crime.  And he will and should do so to protect his license.

Giving you the opportunity to come in, and fill out the 4473 is very generous on his part.  I would not have given you that opportunity myself.

If it came from out of state you violated federal law (GCA 68),
Handguns are to only be transferred out of state from one FFL to another FFL.
I would get it to the FFL immediately & work it out before he calls BATFE.
