I have a friend that happened to.

She sued him for 18 years of child support and got it.

He went into hiding, haven't talked to him in a few years.

No BS.

Good luck with the contact with your son, hope it turns out well for you.

I have an aunt who gave a kid up for adoption when she was a teenager.  They got back in touch around when he (her son) started college (I think), and seem to be pretty close nowadays.

Good luck, OP.

The judge should throw soemthing like this out.....if Dad is never told he should not be financially liable....if Dad knew all along and was shirking his responsibilities then yes.

yea ..so he is 22 years old and we just made contact today , he is working on his biology masters and GSU and we just started emailing back and forth yesterday . never got married or had kids myself in 42 years. Heavy stuff , glad he turned out well. i dated a girl in college for a summer  and we broke up then I moved away.find out she was pregnant and she put him up for adoption after i left an she never told me  and she would have no contact with me in the years prior or couldnt find me . Spotted her on facebook last week and she tells me everything and gives me his email address and she isnt lying but the boy and I agreed to get paternaty tests soon.  what a world ...

nope not angry at her, lots of joy actually to find out , she has not revealed all her reasons yet...and yes she still kept her looks but has a hubby and 2 kids so no pics sorry.  She said she put him up for adoption a few  weeks prior to birth and  she kept in touch this whole time with him and he knew he was adopted.  I guess she must have just told him she could never find me , we havne't got that far yet . from what i have found out the adoptive parents are Navy and dad is a pilot but now retired. Thanks Navy , you did a fine job!  going to give it a week or 2 of emails and phone calls then have him up here to visit and teach him to shoot the AR10 and glock. So far I know he hates obama but he is a bit liberal but to be expected in college , he is very nerdy and heavy into Biology very much a scientist working on a PHD and a little naive and seems a bit shelterd. Said he has never shot more then a air rifle and guns scare him so I have much work ahead of me ...I will take it slow and likley have to deprogram him a little but I wont interfere in his beliefs or Ideals for now. right now he is obseesed with Artic fish and why they dont freeze , part of his research. Looks like me but stick skinny and lanky.

Or dad should sue for lack of visitation or be allowed to be a father for 18 years.

Had the same thing happen to me last year. My daughter found me and she is 19yo now. She got my name from her ma and texted my wife (her phone is in my name) with "are you xxx, are you my dad?" Weird to say the least but it's pretty cool to have another daughter. We get along great.

A guy I worked with found out he had a daughter after talking with an old ex. He was also stonewalled around the time, and while there were suspicions it was his, he could never confirm it. Well all these years later he starts talking to the ex again and she tells all, one paternity test later, and he has a daughter.

I just got in touch with my biological parents (BioMom & BioDad) last year.  It was one of the best moves I'd ever made and it has been especially incredible for my kids, but it wasn't without a big risk.  I initially tracked them down to answer a medical question and lo and behold they'd been looking for me for several years.  A different situation in many ways but I think it could work out well for you both.

Congrats - this sounds like a great opportunity for you, and for him.  I hope that you guys share a common level of interest in getting to know one another.

Really cool ,  I hope the best for your new relationship.
I met my Biomom 12-13 years ago ...we hit it off and had shared a few holidays with her siblings and parents. Somehow and for some reason she has slipped away from me. Kinda both our fault I suppose. I have been trying to track her down again.
I also have the full contact info of who I believe is my father , I cannot get myself to make a move on it . Very tough thing to approach .
I did once call a poor sap in NC and ask him if he was in Miami Beach for spring break 1963  cause I think you are my dad ....lol poor guy almost fell out and in a panicky voice said he had never been to Miami. OOOOPS .

Hopefully everything works out well.

That kind of stuff is scary.  There was an episode of Rules of Engagement in which David Spade's character (he's a player) pretty much hooks up with this hot girl that temps in his office or something along those lines.  He ends up in her apartment (I think after the deed) and sees a picture of her mother, who he remembers from college (he hooked up with mommy) and she describes her dad as being someone just like him.  Kinda sick, twisted humor, but it made for laughs.  Eventually finds out it wasn't his daughter, but WOW.  I may have trashed the details of the storyline a bit, but that was the most of it.
