There is a reason why the Ka-Bar is a military classic. Get one and attach it to your TA-50.

I use a fullsize KA BAR for such duties...strong enough, and doesn't cost a fortune.

My advise is a quality pocket knife and a hatchet from the local hardware store.

Case Cutlery makes excellent pocket knives. The hatchet will be very useful for driving tent stakes and chopping firewood. While you are at the hardware store, get a stone for the pocket knife and a file for sharpening the hatchet.
