is there even anywhere in that you could live if the SHTF where nobody would find you?

me and some family lease 240+ acres with 1200 acres of state land around it just south of bemidji MN... that is my # 1 place to go to... if i needed to bug out only because i know the land. for 30 square miles theres only bars and farms.

BUT.
someone would eventually stumble upon me, within 1-2 months at the most.

when i hunt / 4wheel out there, i run into people all the time. yes, on 1400+ acres.  at least one person per day when i am up camping on our land. ( no matter how hard we try we cant keep people off completely )

so youre bugging out. you shoot a deer for food, someone hears the gunshot. you fish for food, someone sees you across the lake. you gather firewood, someone sees your foot tracks.  you start a small fire for heat someone sees the smoke....

on top of that, i dont think i want to try to survive a MN winter in a hut int he woods. i sleep in a tent for deer hunting 10 days a year, but im not even CLOSE to living off the land.

where is the ideal place to bug out at?

What you describe is actually the best arguement for "bugging IN." Most people cannot afford to keep 2 homes, which is what the actual "bugout retreat" must be in order to survive.

In SHTF situation, you should consider methods of "discouraging" outsiders. In fact, if there's a way to start doing it NOW, you should do so. Those who you find roaming your land already know about it.

One more point: Find out if they are 'outsiders' or neighbors. If they are neighbors, i.e. people who live nearby your property, best thing to do is befriend them... or THEY will start to discourage YOU from using the property!

these are neighboors. our ATV trails through the property are quite popular up there...

That's one of the advantages of suppressors!

With the amount of shooting that goes on, the shot will most likely be ignored.

I'm more of a "bug in" kind of guy. I bought a house way out here for a reason.
