I agree. Fuck him. When you live in a society where capitolism is the heartbeat, guys like Lay, who shake investor confidence on the scale he did and give big business a black eye the way he did...and to the extent he did, I equate to a form of treason and economic terrorism. When the illegal greed of a few CEO's can account for the entire stock market dropping in value to the tune of billions, having hard working Americans lose their pensions and to rattle the very system that has allowed our country to prosper for generations, I believe the guy is a traitor to his country. The damage he caused for his own personal gain is disgusting. Stuff that old bastard in to a hole in the ground. He wont be missed. |
A few month's after the implosion, when the former employees were trying to hang in there one of them put a copy of the "Enron Corporate Ethics" handbook up on Ebay. I wish I had been more aggressive and bought it. I was going to frame it for my office (it was suitable for framing, very thin). ![]() I'm surprised someone in Houston didn't plug him. No jury would...etc. |

C'mon, you know these guys were just trying to make the company successful and it was just an afterthought that made them decide to split the bounty amongst themselves like pirates. I consider this one of the accomplisments of the Bush administration. I'm still not too happy about how CEOs etc. get paid but at least now they know people are watching and you can go to jail. They should have done this to Michael Milken back in the 90's but he avoided a 10 year sentence and only did 22 months and still came out a billionaire, effectively setting the bar pretty low for good ethical corporate behavior. |

His death was probably natural causes. So far, I have heard two conspiracy theories: (1) He didn't really die, they switched him with a dead body, and have spirited him out of the US to escape prison time. (2) He was "bumped off". Who? (a) Powerful people who had a lot to lose if he talked or (b) disgruntled folks who lost everything hired a hitman. There is one thing that makes this interesting. Prior to the trial, a Vice President who was the one responsible for many things coming to light was found dead in his car, of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He faced no jail time or anything. |
ALL these rich assholes are out on bail AFTER THEY'VE BEEN CONVICTED. (pending appeal of course). Justice delayed is justice denied. When I see jeff skilling living in a $60,000 house and riding the bus, I'll believe in justice. Untill then...it's just a free for all- every man for himself. |
That would've been too good for the rat-bastard. He deserved to be embarassed in front of his peers and the public. BTW: In Calif we are still suffering the high electrical costs, the legacy of the Enron under his command. To be truthful, even though I didn't like former Calif gov Gray Davis' politics, you've got to "call a spade a spade." The poor gov was speaking the truth when he was saying that the big electrical corporations were munipulating the electrical energy market in Calif. |
