Wonder if anyone can help- There was a ballistics program in the General Forum which one could download and it worked quite well- I seem to have lost track of it on my computer. Can anyone provide a link to it? Last time I saw it was about 6 months ago.

Check out the JBM program www.eskimo.com/~jbm/calculations/traj/traj.html. Works great for me. But here is the key. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR REAL WORLD DOPE. Should I repeat that? Maybe not. But IF you do a chart using velocities, bullet weight etc. to get you in the ball park. THEN go get real-world dope for your rifle or load. LASTLY go back to the JBM and 'massage' the numbers (i.e. tweak the velocity, BC or height over bore) until the JBM matches your real world dope as close as possible. NOTE: You will almost always have one or two head scratcher numbers in there, but make it close. AND do not forget to enter coreect barometric pressure, altitude and temp -- it is critical. That corrected chart shoudl be right on the money. at any distance. Good luck. |
