WASHINGTON
— The deep recession wiped out primarily high-wage and middle-wage
jobs. Yet the strongest employment growth during the sluggish recovery
has been in low-wage work, at places like strip malls and fast-food
restaurants.

In essence, the poor economy has replaced good jobs with bad ones. That is the conclusion of a new report
from the National Employment Law Project, a research and advocacy
group, analyzing employment trends four years into the recovery.

<....>

With
joblessness high and job gains concentrated in low-wage industries,
hundreds of thousands of Americans have accepted positions that pay less
than they used to make, in some cases, sliding out of the middle class
and into the ranks of the working poor.

That includes Connie Ogletree, a former administrative and executive assistant who now earns $7.25 an hour at a McDonald’s
in Atlanta. "It was 40 years ago that I had my first fast-food job, at a
Dairy Queen,” said Ms. Ogletree, 55. "This is my second.”

Nobody in government is about helping the middle class. Government can't control the middle class.

Still GWB's fault and the GOP for blocking Obungo's efforts.

Not at all, it's a "raise the minimum wage to $10.10" piece.

Obama (may fuck be ever upon him) is not the sole father of this particular goat fuck. Send everyone to college to get inflated grades in financially worthless fields of endevour, turn the US into a service economy and sign onto free trade agreement after free trade agreement in rapid succession so that the economy has no time to digest the initial results, and all the while increase the payouts to the dole and nobody should be surprised that this is the result.

No more mining here, we're saving the earth by putting up walmarts.
No more timber industry here, we're saving the trees by building starbucks.
No making, no building, no farming, no fire, no shit.

Fuck. This. All.

There has been no  recovery.  More Americans on extended unemployment or EBTs than ever before.  Wait for one of these:

1) Interest rates rise;
2) derivatives market crash;
3) federal reserve note toppled as the world's reserve currency.

Any one of these will unveil the global depression that we've been in.
