You won't get anyone caring about 2-3,000 missing Americans……
Last night the popular view on this board seemed to be that the people killed in the Tsunami was down to 'Gods Population Control' … 'Gods Punishment'… or "serves them right for being in a Third World Shithole"

Vitto If I went to Africa -- to say take a pics safari went on a walk -- got gored by a buff died because there were no really good medical facilities ..................... whose fault would that be ??? Vacationing in a third world country is ---- risk taking, risk takers , sometime have to pay up. |

Most news stations have been saying 12 Americans confirmed dead with thousands still missing.
Anyone one the beach or in a hotel by the beach in most of those countries is gone. And that is where the tourists would be hanging out.  |

Sadly looking at the magnitude of this disaster, I have little doubt the American death count will climb way above the 12 confirmed victims.
Communications in those areas have to be a mess right now with what is going on. It wasn't all that good to begin with. I have pretty much good confidence our state department will do what they can to find our citizens or account for them dead or alive. I'm afraid this is the type thing that no one is prepared for handling. My prayers go out to the victims, family of victims, and those still looking for missing loved ones. This truly is a tragedy of biblical proportions. Tj |

It may shock some from the board, but there are probably more Americans touring the world, than any other single nationality. It's almost comical to read some of the 'Why were they there?" posts. From what I can see, it was a very beautiful place...

It probably wouldn't shock you to hear, but there are those here who actually want CA to be wrecked by the big one. It's sometimes fun to throw that out when CA does yet another thing badly, but it's hardly serious. Unfortunately, for some, it IS!!! |

I have a feeling if you had a loved one missing right now you wouldn't be running your big fucking mouth the way you are. The fact is the Tsunami was a WORLD disaster, it wasn't just isolated to the area where the wave hit. This disaster is/will be felt world wide for years to come. If you were ever in a disaster I have a feeling you would be crying like a little bitch hoping someone would send some help your way. You better hope not everyone is an asshole like you if that time ever comes. |

It probably does if you are him.  I suspect the actual number of US dead is not nearly that high, most of the “missing” are not really missing. While some Americans will go that far for vacation most don’t. The Caribbean and the South Pacific are both are closer to the US than the Indian Ocean. |
