'The Flight That Fought Back' airs Sunday, Sept. 11, on the Discovery Channel and features re-enactments of what may have happened aboard Flight 93, the fourth hijacked plane that crashed into a Pennsylvania field after passengers apparently stormed the cockpit to regain control of the aircraft.

They stormed the cockpit. It was heard over the cellphone of relatives and it was also heard on the cockpit voice-recorders.

That still doesn't mean that it didn't have help going down.

That would be quite a coincidental bit of "help" - that we shot it down at the same time the passengers stormed the cockpit.

More likely that the MuslimMaggots simply put the plane into a hard dive which was impossible to stop as soon as the passengers fought back.

If I recall there was a report released a ways back of an analysis of the voice reporter of the cockpit. The supposed famous line of "Let's Roll" of the passengers storming the cockpit was found to be one of the hijackers saying "Shall we roll it?".

The fact the movie is going to be about "What may have happened" is enough for me to avoid it.

I'd need a pretty reliable cite before I buy that.

Umm... yeah that sounds believable.

'Let's roll...'

Todd Beamer's call to airphone operator Lisa Jefferson was, she says, a turning point in her life. 'I will play it over and over in my mind,' she says.

The FBI was on the other line, offering guidance. 'I asked his name and he told me. And at that point his voice went up a little bit because he said: "We're going down, we're turning round. Oh I don't know, Jesus, please help us."'

The two chatted about Beamer's family; his sons Drew and David. 'Then he said: "My wife is expecting," so we talked.' They discovered Jefferson and his wife shared the same Christian name. The conversation went from the sublime to the practical: 'He wanted me to recite the Lord's Prayer with him.' Then came the Psalm, with - according to Jefferson -- a number of other passengers now joining in, as though for a last rite.

'Lisa! Lisa!' shouted Beamer. 'I'm still here, Todd,' Jefferson said, 'I'll be here as long as you are.'

'From that point,' she says now, 'he said he was going to have to go out on faith because they were talking about jumping the guy with the bomb. He was still holding the phone, but he was not talking to me, he was talking to someone else and I could tell he had turned away. And he said: "You ready. Okay, let's roll."'

'We're all running to first class,' said flight attendant Sandy Bradshaw, implying the rebellion had begun in Bingham's compartment.

Between rows 30 and 34, the revolt had brewed along with a pot of boiling water, which Bradshaw was planning to splash into a hijacker's face.

The hijackers had chosen their flight badly: Glick was a 6'1" judo champion; Bingham was a rugby player; Burnett had been a college quarterback. Among the other passengers, Louis Nacke was a weightlifter and William Cashman a former paratrooper. The manual advising pilots to be careful and appease hijackers was about to be ripped up, along with the history of hijacking.

No one will ever know how the plan to attack the terrorists was hatched, except for an indication to The Observer from an analyst of the recorder that the scuffle began not at the back of the plane but at the front - where Bingham was sitting. 'He was one of those who would have said: "This is ridiculous, let's kick their asses,"' Carney says

There was talk of 'rushing the hijackers' - Glick, in a third call, asked Lyz if she thought it a good idea. She said she did. Deena Burnett disagreed. 'Tom, sit down,' she said. 'Don't draw attention to yourself.' 'If they're going to run this plane into the ground,' retorted her husband, 'we're going to do something.'

From 9.57, the cockpit recorder picks up the sounds of fighting in an aircraft losing control at 30,000 feet - the crash of trolleys, dishes being hurled and smashed. The terrorists scream at each other to hold the door against what is obviously a siege from the cabin. A passenger cries: 'Let's get them!' and there is more screaming, then an apparent breach. 'Give it to me!' shouts a passenger, apparently about to seize the controls.

Umm? "Let's Roll" was one of the last things the GTE operator heard from Todd Beamer before he hung up the phone and the attack commenced. It has never been associated with the cockpit voice recorder.

Flight 93 hijacker: 'Shall we finish it off?'
9/11 report reveals who was at controls before crash

Friday, July 23, 2004 Posted: 5:57 AM EDT (0957 GMT)

(CNN) -- Who actually put United Flight 93 into a death dive, causing it to slam into the Pennsylvania countryside on September 11, 2001, is revealed in the 9/11 commission report released Thursday.

The passenger revolt began at 9:57 a.m., nearly 30 minutes after the four terrorists aboard launched their takeover of the Boeing 757 loaded with more than 11,000 gallons of jet fuel.

As passengers charged the cockpit door, terrorist hijacker Ziad Jarrah began rolling the plane to the left and right, "attempting to knock the passengers off balance," the 9/11 commission report said. Jarrah told another hijacker in the cockpit to block the door.

By 9:59 a.m., Jarrah changed tactics and "pitched the nose of the airplane up and down to disrupt the assault."

"The [flight] recorder captured the sounds of loud thumps, crashes, shouts and breaking glass and plates. At 10:00:03 a.m., Jarrah stabilized the airplane," the report says.

"Five seconds later, Jarrah asked, 'Is that it? Shall we finish it off?' A hijacker responded, 'No. Not yet. When they all come, we finish it off.' "

Jarrah resumed pitching the plane up and down.

"In the cockpit. If we don't, we'll die," a passenger is heard saying.

"Sixteen seconds later, a passenger yelled, 'Roll it!' " the report says.

By 10:01 a.m., Jarrah stopped his violent maneuvers and said, "Allah is the greatest! Allah is the greatest!"

According to the report, he then asked another hijacker in the cockpit, "Is that it? I mean, shall we put it down?"

"Yes, put it in it, and pull it down," the other responded.

The passengers continued with their assault, trying to break through the cockpit door. At 10:02 a.m. and 23 seconds, a hijacker said, "Pull it down! Pull it down!"

"The hijackers remained at the controls but must have judged that the passengers were only seconds from overcoming them," the report concludes.

"The airplane headed down; the control wheel was turned hard to the right. The airplane rolled onto its back, and one of the hijackers began shouting, 'Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest.'

"With the sounds of the passenger counter-attack continuing, the aircraft plowed into an empty field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at 580 miles per hour, about 20 minutes' flying time from Washington, D.C."
Struggle in the cockpit

The report says Jarrah intended to fly the plane into the White House or the U.S. Capitol. "He was defeated by the alerted, unarmed passengers of United 93," the report says.

The battle aboard the plane was burned into history by the story of one passenger, Todd Beamer, who used an onboard phone to call the FBI. At the end of his call, the operator overhead him say to other passengers, "Let's roll."

He and other passengers had learned of the attacks in New York and Washington after placing calls to loved ones.

In the weeks and months after the attacks, there were reports that officials believed passengers had overtaken the plane, forcing it to crash in the field in Pennsylvania. However, last year, officials began backing away from that theory.

Thursday's report gives no indication that passengers ever broke through the cockpit door, but it makes clear that passengers' actions thwarted the plans of the terrorists.

The report also gives harrowing details of the moments just before and after the plane was hijacked.

The plane, which had left Newark, New Jersey, for Los Angeles, California, at 8:42 a.m. carrying 37 passengers and seven crew members, received a warning from United flight dispatcher Ed Ballinger at 9:24 a.m.: "Beware any cockpit intrusion -- two a/c [aircraft] hit World Trade Center."

The message was sent by Ballinger to several aircraft to alert them of potential terrorists.

Two minutes later, at 9:26 a.m., pilot Jason Dahl appeared to be puzzled by the message and responded, "Ed, confirm latest mssg plz -- Jason."

"The hijackers attacked at 9:28," the report says. "While traveling 35,000 feet above eastern Ohio, United 93 suddenly dropped 700 feet. Eleven seconds into the descent, the FAA's air traffic control center in Cleveland received the first of two radio transmissions from the aircraft.

"During the first broadcast, the captain or first officer could be heard declaring 'Mayday' amid the sounds of a physical struggle in the cockpit. The second transmission, 35 seconds later, indicated that the fight was continuing. The captain or first officer could be heard shouting: 'Hey get out of here -- get out of here -- get out of here.' "

At 9:32 a.m., the report says, a hijacker "made or attempted to make the following announcement to the passengers of Flight 93: 'Ladies and gentlemen: Here the captain, please sit down keep remaining sitting. We have a bomb on board. So, sit.' "

The report also says a woman, most likely a flight attendant, was being held captive in the cockpit. "She struggled with one of the hijackers who killed or otherwise silenced her," it says.

The report says at least 10 passengers and two crew members contacted family, friends or others on the ground. They reported the hijackers were wearing red bandanas, forced passengers to the back of the plane and claimed a bomb was aboard, according to the report.

Flight 93 was the only hijacked plane that day with four hijackers aboard. All other flights had five hijackers.

The report says a man who was denied entry and detained in Florida a month before the attacks possibly was supposed to have been the fifth hijacker aboard Flight 93.

"The operative likely intended to round out the team for this flight, Mohamed al Kahtani, had been refused entry by a suspicious immigration inspector at Florida's Orlando International Airport in August," the report says.

Al Kahtani is currently being held at the detainee center at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

I do NOT think that way. I believe the passengers did fight to stop a plane that could have hit the Pentagon or wiped out the White House. I was merely trying to recall something I thought I had read in the news a ways back.

As for the D.C. movie, to each his own. I personally will be avoiding it because the facts are so limited they have license to have anything and everything happen.

It's a pretty story, it makes people feel good inside. "Angry Americans Storm Cockpit" and "We're All Gonna Die Anyway So Let's Roll"

...sorry, I don't believe a word of it, but if it makes their families feel better then go ahead and live the lie. It's not hurting anyone.

Personally, I don't think the sheeple had the guts to do it. But I do think that jets were scrambled after the first plane hit the tower and I think we did the right thing by taking it down.

Good, bad or indifferent, they shouldn't be making a "what if?" movie based upon cryptic phone calls and contrived BS.

Fighters were scambled near Washington on 9/11, but they were vectored east out towards the ocean, because that's where they perceived the threat was coming from.

The FAA puke in charge of these calls was indecisive, didn't want to ask the USAF to shoot down non-compliant airliners. I've heard the recorded phone calls.

ALL the evidence including witnesses and relatives listening to events on board over the phone, flight data recorders and actual realtime sounds and voices recorded from inside the cockpit minutes and seconds before the crash ALL point to the fact that the passengers fought back, furiously stormed the cockpit and the MoslemMaggots dove the plane into the ground and NO evidence to the contrary has ever been put forth.

Therefore...

<BR>

...it's obvious the cause of the crash was a missile fired from one of our fighter jets.

I've personally talked to one of the flight controllers who was guiding F-16s from the local Air National Guard base onto flight 93. From what I understand, they were the fist to respond. According to him, they never got close to the airliner.

You can take that for whatever its worth, but I personally see no need for cover-up, if we did shoot it down. Its not like anyone reasonable didn't already expect that we would, given the situation.

You .02 is worth a lot less than what you think.

You have absolutely no proof to back up your "humble" opinion. However, there are several accounts of those people that were talking to the passengers. There are also the cockpit recordings, which substantiate the accounts from the relatives.

If you want to be one of these ignorant sheeple that goes around believing every conspiracy theory in the world, then go ahead. Maybe one of these days you will get your head out of your ass and start thinking for yourself.

Just my humble .02.

I am always amazed at the level of ignorance I see posted on the Internet. Truly amazed.

I never believed that flight 93 was shot down.
The show reinforced that belief even moreso.
There were two reasons in particular that make me believe that the passengers resistance caused the flight to crash.

First, the hijackers were portrayed as incompetant. Now this could be total spin from the media, but the fact that they couldn't get basic cockpit alarms to shut off and the general erratic flight of the plane makes it believable. The hijacker "flying" the plane never apparently had total control of the aircraft.

Second, the passengers just happened to be a crowd of type A personalities and fighters in general. This can also be blown off as media spin, but facts are facts. There were people trained in martial arts, former military, and athletes aboard. Also interesting to note was that there were multiple, family provided, photos of the passengers holding guns. I am suprised these photos ever made it into the broadcast.

These two factors combined with the passengers being informed in advance of their likely demise, makes the passenger revolt story pretty believable.

ok, my attempt to lighten it up

Seriously, don't you think the conversations repeated in the cockpit amongst the terrorists were those recorded by the flight recorder.

I had also heard some of them had small knives or a butter knife. Its nice to know we made the cockpit doors stronger now! And you can't have your pocket knife any more.

Interesting!

+1. Things were hapening too quickly ofr the big cover up people are so convinced the gubmint is capable of.

They made no effort to hide Cheny's (IIRC) green light to shoot down non compliant planes, it wouldn't make me feel any different if they HAD shot it down, based on available info, that plane had to be stoped.

But we did NOT shoot it down.

Anyone have any idea of the paperwork involved if a USAF aircrafft that left he base with X number of missiles and cannon rounds returns with less than that number when the flight was over the continental US?

ALL the evidence including witnesses and relatives listening to events on board over the phone, flight data recorders and actual realtime sounds and voices recorded from inside the cockpit minutes and seconds before the crash ALL point to the fact that the passengers fought back, furiously stormed the cockpit and the MoslemMaggots dove the plane into the ground and NO evidence to the contrary has ever been put forth.

Therefore...

...it's obvious the cause of the crash was a missile fired from one of our fighter jets.

It's funny, that reminds me of when liberals try to use "logic" to win a gun control argument.

I think there were fighters inbound that WOULD have shot that plane down. What I think actually happened is that Haji panicked when they got in the cabin and went stick forward and pile drove it into the ground. They were flying very low and barely in control anyway and there was really no time to correct the stick input.
