It's a dump for sure. If you go to the casinos, I heard the one's on the Canadian side were far better & safer than the ones downtown. Didn't go to any of them, but thats what the locals told me. |

My sister and BIL and I stayed at the Comfort Inn in Roseville. Nice hotel. That's down the street from Southfield a bit.

Big Difference. I spend about 2 hours a week (closings) at 400 Galleria. Nice area, stay to the north and east and even west and it is all good. Plenty to do in the area. If you smoke cigars, let me know. Copper Canyon is close, and they are herf friendly. We can meet ( not a date  ) I am just a nice guy.Or let me know where you are staying and I can get where you need to be. I live in Livonia, grew up in Troy, Royal Oak and B-Ham. Southfield has plenty of hotels in the area. There is a hotel right on Telegraph just south of 11 Mile Road which is 1 mile away from the Galleria. Here is the Galleria Here is the Holiday In tower |

My mom works in Southfield at SBC. If you want to stay at a really high class place, try the Ritz Carlton or the Hyatt in Dearborn. This is of course if money is no object.

There are good hotels there - If I remember correctly there is a Doubletree just off of I-696 in Sfld that has/had a Shula's steakhouse in it.
BTW Southfield is outside of Detroit, people. It's not a great spot by any stretch but it isn't the urban ruins you see in the Detroit pics. thatsmyjob Perhaps I or others can help steer you toward places to eat, etc. I was working (and will be again) in Sfld, and actually I worked at the Galleria officenter for a while about 5 years back. Edit... duh on my part. Galleria, check. Local good restaurants: Buddy's Pizza, Fishbones (Cajun food, love it), Beans and Cornbread (soul food)... |
