Y'know, I'm really getting tired of hearing this. It's good fuel for the media's talking heads and for the citizen lemmings who want to know what to think, but otherwise it's meaningless. Approval polls are only useful in predicting the outcome of the next election. Since Bush is a second-term President...

You see, there's a reason why this country was founded as a Republic and not a Democracy.

his approval #s are so low because he's pissing his base off. this will bite republicans in the ass big time in '06. there's more to the republican party than Jorge.

Damned if you do damned if you dont.

I mean look at what this guy has had to go through.

9/11, this hurricane season, unprecedented oil prices, etc etc.

Disastor after disastor. As the head of a nation, how do you stay popular when its citizens are continually being kicked in the ass. You cant, it wouldnt matter who's in office.

I take that back. Slick Wlly would have in some way started a campaign showing he is repsonsible for Americans making so much money and having their property appreciate like it has the past 2 years thereby improving his own image. But George is to busy getting things done then to care about his image.

Approval polls only show what the people they ask think. 1000 folks from N.O. will have a different view than 1000 folks anywhere else. Of course the sheeple watching the news will believe whatever they are fed, they would believe the sky is orange if the media said it enough. Also, statistics can say/prove anything you want them to.

I don't see how this makes any difference to the choices that real Republicans/conservatives might make. Now if you are a RINO and like to think you are a moderate or ???, maybe Hillary looks good to you...

BINGO

I think everybody needs to take the current polling with a grain of salt.

Washington Post/ABC polling has already been caught fudging their polls as has the NYT… They were over sampling Democrats by 10% and blacks as well. They supposedly over sampled blacks because they wanted a clearer picture of black opinion after Katrina… yea right, problem with that is they failed to inform the public their polls were not representative samples of the whole country.

Rasmussen who I will remind everyone was dead on last year... has the President approval rating at 45-47% as did Gallup last week.

While 45% is not outstanding it is about the norm for a second term President in the 1st year.

I say ignore the polls altogether. Even if you believe the polls, as a Republic, we elected the President to act on principle, not according to the current whim of the majority. That was Slick Willy's claim to fame, right? Stick his finger in the wind to decide how to shape his policy? Right now these numbers are only useful for Bush-bashers and lemmings. If I could talk to President Bush I would tell him to ignore the polls and act on principle.

I voted for GWB for secure borders, fiscal responsibility, solid consrtuctionist SCJs. I know I wouldn't get that from any dem. now I'm not getting it from GWB either.
Link Posted: 9/23/2005 9:52:48 AM EDT
I like GWB...I am not happy with what he is doing in his second term, but I like him.

I think he is squandering his golden opportunity. He is a lame duck, it doesn't matter what he does, it can't hurt him...unless you are talking about the "legacy" BS....

Hell, he should be up there talking to the press like Gen. Honore....just flat out come out and tell them they are assholes and STFU.

Instead of apologizing for the "slowness" of the Federal response to Katrina, he should just say "Fuck you, the Gov is a giant bureaucracy, you made it that way, it takes a little time to get into full swing. Don't like how fast we responded, pony up, theres another election in 2007, run, win, and respond as you see fit."

Screw PC with the border. Shut it down....the latino's bitch and whine, tell them to STFU, or we'll send them home too....The libs and dems don't like it, piss on them. Win an election, then you can do what you want....

Stop pussyfooting around the war on terror...tell Iran, hey, you build a nuke, you'll never get a chance to use it...

Start steering those hurricanes where they will do some good, namely enclaves of liberals and dems...parts of California and NYC come to mind.....

He really should be out there swinging against the press, piss 'em off, make the apoplectic, until their heads explode....hell, they brought that commie bastard Rather down...and big tobacco finally caught up with that Canadian liberal POS Jennings.....lets f*ck the rest of 'em....

Hell, I'm just in a pissed off mood today, I need some bourbon...Thats what I'll do...go home, caress some weapons, a good DVD or two...and some good sippin bourbon, I need it, I deserve it...

And what good would that do?

Absolutely none. The man is trying to run a war and a country hit by two disastors, the hurricanes and the oil crisis. Now is not the time to make even more enemys.

Well, considering the press is the most divisive force in this country, going to war with them would be a good thing. Afterall, they will continually pound you while you are down, so why not swing back.

Any day where the press gets pissed off is a good day for me.

I don't agree with everything GWB does, but the right thing is not always the popular thing, and I'd rather have a president who is willing to do the unpopular, difficult thing that he thinks is right rather than one who will do what he believes will make him look good.
Link Posted: 9/23/2005 11:00:05 AM EDT
I stand with GWB in most things... but I have to say that he's taking arrows that he shouldn't be- and even though his tactic is to ignore the naysayers, he's got to be cognizant that there are a lot of bleating libtards out there slinging stones and arrows, and he's taking hits he shouldn't be.

My concern is that in '06 - and '08 - that the libtards will be out in force with a "Moderate" Democrat (Hillary?) and try to swing people over to their side. If the Republican party's image is tarnished, the swing voters will go Democrat.

And we'll have another four years of a Klintonista government and all the trimmings, tax increases, and lifestyle infringements that entails.
Link Posted: 9/23/2005 11:14:26 AM EDT
Step 1 - The media feeds the sheeple constant negative news about a situation.
Step 2 - The media then polls these same sheeple and asks them loaded questions about the situation.
Step 3 - The sheeple respond in true Pavlovian fashion.
Step 4 - The media then trumpets their polls as the gospel truth and claims that the 500 people surveyed in their rigged polls speak for the entire population of the U.S.A.
Step 5 - Repeat process as needed to drag down conservatives in power and push their own socialist agendas.

GWB Jr has already said that he doesn't run his administration by the polls.

My beef is that the sample size on these polls is so small that they really can't infer that it represents the entire population of the USA.

The one thing approval numbers do mean outside an election is how well the president can heard the cats in congress and keep the party marching together. Right now congress smells some blood and that makes it hard to get things done. SS and tax reform look to be dead unless he can get the country behind him again. They aren't meaningless but they aren't of vast importantance either.

Good point - we should just continue to let this cocksucker and his ilk fuck us in the ass because they are "less evil". Fuck him. At this point, I might just vote for Hillary to be a dick, and precipitate the end a bit (but just a little bit) faster.

Talk is cheap. Tell me with a straight face that his "shouldering the responsibility" for the "poor" federal response to Katrina was not in direct response to "public outcry". Also, tell me that his actions right now, leading up to Rita, are not poll-driven.

So tell me, to what extent will you continue to suck his cock? A Democrat administration would be worth living through if the Repubs were spanked hard enough because of their bullshit and learned not to shit all over their base.

The Democrats learned this same lesson in 1994 - gun control votes can get your ass thrown out of office. The Dems have since laid way off the gun control platform. If the Repubs get kicked out because of their bullshit stance on immigration, among other things, the same phenomenon can take place.

When either party is in power too long, or has too much of a majority, bad things happen. Their brazen disregard for the voter gets worse and worse. It's time for the pendulum to swing the other way, even if just to scare these morons.
Link Posted: 9/23/2005 1:42:42 PM EDT
If you do some searching for polls you will find that while Bush's numbers are very low, the democrats are actually polling lower than Bush.

I like to say that the only thing worse than having Bush as president right now is Not having him president right now. Just think we we would be if sKerry had been elected.

He's better than either of the alternatives we had, but he's not leading like we thought he would. He's made too many miscalculations for conservatives. It's going to bite us bigtime for the next 2 elections.

Its not about who is better or who would be better, its about fighting for your core values and beliefs and if GWB's actions during his time in office are an indication of his values I am off the conservative reservation.

Largest Education Bill in History
Open Border policies with Amnesty
Signing Campaign Finance Reform ( After He Himself declared that it was Unconstitutional )
Billions to Africa
Bloated Highway Bill
Energy Bill minus Alaska drilling without a fight
Aid to katrina in the Billions ( How could he resist all them poor black folks on the news 24/7 )
Losing the battle to make tax cuts permanent and to cut more taxes ( without much of a fight )
Losing the fight to reform the SS program
Losing the battle to Reform the Tax code
His propensity to not fight back when attacked by the liberal's and their friends in the media
But you say, He "allowed" the AWB to sunset and He nominated Judge Roberts ( who Nobody knows anything about ) I wont even start with the major blunders during the initial months of the War... And to think that I voted for him twice What a Conservative !!!

W needs to:

Smack the congressional leaders in the head and get the goddman spending under control
Abolish the IRS and get rid of the progressive income tax
Abolish the Dept. of Edukashen
Fire Al Gonzalez
Secure the fucking borders against invasion
Quit trying to please the MSM, since they've always hated him, there's NOTHING he will do right

The 'Pubbies are drunk with power and are getting arrogant. I'll never vote for a dem/commie, but I will for a rational Libertarian or Constitution Party person.
