i received what i believe to be poor customer service from a vendor on a (small) web forum.when i posted about it on the site i was quickly shouted down and a large bandwagon appeared and all (4or5) of them promptly mounted.you guys tell me if i am out of line.
last monday or tuesday i placed an order for a set of rings and bases for my savage deer rifle.i had previously tried without success to get them from 3 stores here.having had great luck with vendors on this site i thought i would get some from a vendor on that site.
when i placed the order i told the fella that time was of the utmost importance and that i needed the mounts by the weekend.he said this was not a problem.well the following MONDAY,having not received them i called and was told they would ship that day.i was told the owner had a family member that had to have surgery and that one of his kids was deploying that week, and that was why my order failed to ship.i cancelled the order.
when i posted this on their site and said it was poor service i was attacked and everyone defended the vendor.my position is that any family emergency is clearly more important than my scope rings,BUT i do not believe this caused my order not to ship, nor do i believe this prevented them from notifying me that there would be a delay.communication,i said, was the key to avoiding customer service issues.everyone kept saying i should have planned better, despite my telling them that i had tried to get the stuff locally ahead of time, without success.and that i was being an ass for posting negatively about my "not getting my way"(huh?)
all i can say is that these folks could sure take a lesson from G&R tactical,MSgunworks and several of the vendors we are fortunate enough to have.
bottom line to me is that no effort was made to let me know that my order was not coming as promised.nothing catastrophic had occured preventing them from contacting me.i feel as if they disregarded  their customers satisfaction in this matter.that is by definition poor customer service.what do you guys think?
if interested my post can be seen on savageshooters.com-under the flame thread-same user name.

Hard to say really.

Internet vendors are often running a sideline business, so service can vary.

Obviously it was very important to you to get the product.  Was there a reason you didn't start this earlier?

I had to get a holster for a class, so I ended up ordered 2 just to be sure one arrived.

The class was more important, and I just flipped and sold the 2nd.  (they both showed up on time)

The Black Listing seems a bit extreme.

How much shit did you give her?

one more time;i tried in the previous weeks to get the mounts locally but could not.i did not think it would be so hard to find bases for a savage 111 accutrigger model, but locally i could not find them.how much time would you say is reasonable to secure mounts for a common rifle?

You could have been that 1 in 1000 customers that got hosed. You have to look a companies overall
sevice history before assuming that they have poor customer service. I know it won't make you feel any better, but my business ships hundreds of packages every week so one is bound to fall in the cracks on occasion. It's nothing personal it just happens. IMHO

fair enough.i am not saying this company is incapable of good service.i am sayng that in my one experience with them they failed.that is not that bad,but defending this position impiles to me that they think, given the circumstances, that it was okay not to notify me of the delay.

no more than the following;cancel my order,i feel that you showed complete disregard to my order.i think that is poor customer service.

Right now I'm waiting 3 weeks for a holster.

One would think rings would be readily available, but sometimes it's just hard to get parts.

If I were you, I would try and defuse this situation.

there are too many good vendors that go the extra mile for customer service for me to worry about this one.it really wasnt that big a deal,i was just hot at the moment.but when everybody on the site jumped me and SSS actually starts slurring me as if i was wrong to expect better service it just pissed me off.

well,on the phone  when she told me that it would ship that day,i was shocked, expecting it to arrive anytime.i was short with her.did not curse or go off.just said cancel it,and that i felt it was poor service, disregard for me etc...i didnt think it was that big a deal.i feel that she was emboldened by the others defending her and she felt as if she could go on the offensive.kinda makes you like her huh?

YOU had bad service with them, thats understandable, not right but understandable. But you didn't leave it at bad service from one deal in which you were given the reason, even if a day late.  The moment you posted in the Forums bad mouthing them, you called their whole business into question.  I'm not taking a side either way. I have no interest in the situation.  I'm just offering you insight into getting jumped the way you did/are.  you could have mentioned the whole situation and left the names out like you did here, and then you would have been totally safe.  Every business will have a customer at some point say they received bad service, that doesn't make it true for all.

Again, I'm just trying to help you understand why people crawled all over you, not critizing or preaching or anything else.

it was not just a day late.it was several days late when i called, only to find it had yet to ship.you are correct,it was I who had bad service.i can only respond to bad service when it happens to ME.i am not gonna poll everyone else to validate my opinion about someones service.again,i emphasize that the poor service once in a while is not that bad.but when one compounds it by not communicating the problem, then attacks the customer for being upset,it becomes a much bigger problem to me.

I love my ml-10II.

fired twice in anger lasy year, first was a buck at 185 yards, nailed him. Second was a doe at ~100 yards, flattened her. And not having to watch the smoke clear....cool.

First you didn’t allow enough time to get the parts you needed for hunting season. Mistake #1 always allow enough time to get the parts you need. Shit happens and stuff sometimes gets back ordered.
Why couldn’t the local smiths get the parts for you? Did you ask if they could rush a set for you? I have overnighted many things (rings, bases, sears and replacements parts) for guns that had to go out by Friday many times (especially during hunting season).

So you got blacklisted from a company... Then you come here to bitch about it? What’s the purpose of that?
So you had a bad experience with them. Grow up! You sound like you have sand in your magina!

when placing the order i made sure they would have ample time to get them to me,then they failed to follow through.this seems clear to me but since most seem to disagree,i concede.the blacklisting thing is humorous, like i quit and then you try and fire me.i wasnt going to use them because they have poor service anyway.

You will find wally world and other gunSHOPS do not carry the oddball stuff. You will need to seek out a smith. Please when you find one be nice to him. They will if treated right bend over backwards for you.

from this post i inferred that you think i was in error in dealing with this shop,i have failed to properly articulate myself.i have had alot of excellent dealings with a variety of dealers, this one,in this instance sucked.if you accept poor sevice it will become the norm.this, largely, has already taken place.go to mcdonalds for evidence.
