Fantasy time. The future, many years from now. Time travel is posssible. The antis rule and you have been caught with banned weapons. Your punishment is not prison anymore, now they send you back in time. Back to jurassic times. Remember this is fantasy so rules are a little loose. You are allowed to take any weapon(s) you could reasonably own now.(no tanks or heavy weapons,a minigun would be a stretch) Ammo will be resupplied(the libs aren't cruel). Food will be supplied etc... The question IS... what weapon would you take to deal with the T-Rexes, Allosaurs etc..BP

Since it's the future I would take my Neutron Isotropic zapper-whapper. In addition to being a weapon it's a great Holo-lifeform generator. I'd take the chips for a couple of blondes.

Ooohh there's my mommie! It's beddy-bye time!

How about a 20mm Oerlikon - I think Long Mountain Outfitters currently has one or two for sale.

Alright...let me explain. I watched a program on the history channel last nite. One of those computer generated realistic things. All about the allosaur. I cant help, when I seee that stuff , to try to imagine what it would be like to be there. How you could survive. What could possibly enable you to deal with such a creature. If you dont want to play alittle, put your adult cap on and go to work. Christ, some of the SHTF fantasies on this site make me cringe. BP

Only what you see in the store pal.  [heavy]

Hey Retro,

As I recall, Arnie never said "I'll be back" to the gunstore owner.  He simply nodded when he knew there was nothing else he needed, started loading up the shotgun (over the objections "you can't do that" from the moronic gunstore owner) and then shot the moronic gunstore owner.  Never mind that resistance wouldn't have done the owner any good, he should have been reacting the SECOND a gun was being loaded in his store.  But, meanwhile, back in reality.........

OK, I'll play (this game is as much fun as SHTF games),

I honestly don't think man can carry a weapon (todays) that would even the odds against an Alosaur or Raptor type animal.  Your only means of survival would be using a mounted weapon, having a killing field of fire, and electronic warning systems.   Something along the lines of a half mile clear zone and a .50 cal semi/full auto weapon.

If you actually had to roam the jungles, eventually you are meat.  There was a reason they were top of the foodchain for so long.  I suspect you might be able to waste one with a full auto M14 or such, with several mags of ammo, but you might die trying, or get wasted by it's mate while you are pouring lead into it.

James

An m-79 and an m-4 with unlimited ammo of course. Something in a big African caliber would be fun for the more sporting adventures.

Thats easy. I'd take a 1918 BMG 10000 rounds of AP 3006 and have Mr. Browning spotting for me  while we talked gun stuff. That would be nirvana.

That's strange, I would like to drop a bunch of ARs on General Lee, right before Gettysburg!

Gen. Custer would not have even been around in 1876 to need ARs at Little Big Horn!

It's not really that bad.  The REALLY big ones are all herbivores and won't bother you.  The really big carnivores, like T-rex or allosaurus, are not very populous because the environment can only support so many of something that big...each T-rex would require dozens of square miles of hunting territory by itself.
So most of the predators you would face would be about the size of a wolf, maybe to the size of a tiger and could easily be taken out by a 308 semiauto.
If you do run into a T-rex or allosaurus (depending on if you're in the Cretaceous or Jurassic) an under-barrel grenade launcher loaded with HE would take care of it.
Dinosaurs weren't monsters, after all...they were just animals.
