How the nightmare progressed......
3:15 AM Rise & shine. Get dressed.
3:30 AM On the road in very heavy fog, slow going.
4:05 AM Boat is in the water, fog is worse now.
4:07 AM Visibility is about 5 feet. Lost in the fog.
4:15 AM Finally locate first bridge to pass under, located 150 yards from launch.
4:30 AM Finally clear last of 3 bridges, start looking for the cat tails.
4:32 AM Boat hung up on first of MANY stumps.
5:00 AM Lost in fog, can't find the cat tails.
5:30 AM Lost in fog, can't find the cat tails.
6:00 AM Visibility has now improved to 6 feet, still lost.
6:02 AM Spot light dies. Still lost.
6:30 AM Encounter the mother of all submerged stump fields, boat hung up bad.
7:00 AM Finally manage to get off of stump. Visibility still sucks.
7:15 AM Shooting time has arrived. Still lost in the fog and searching for the cat tail islands.
7:30 AM Just light enough to finally figure out where we are.
7:50 AM Realize the area we were going to hunt is now above water.
8:00 AM Run aground on sandbar.
8:10 AM Finally decide to hunt where we are, throw out decoys.
9:30 AM Haven't seen squat, decide to give up.
10:00 AM Finally reach open water only to see that lake level is down 4 or 5 feet....stumps [b]everywhere[/b].
10:08 AM Hit another sandbar....drag boat 200 yards.
11:30 AM Finally arrive home.
12:00 PM Head for shower so I can start work at 1:00.
Duck hunting is hell...............God I love this stuff.
