I have a close friend who is looking to buy a Bummer (Hummer knock off kit car that looks like a Hummer) that is 4-door.  He has asked me to find it for him since he is not web savvy.  I am having no luck.

I know a guy that build one and by the time you cut up the truck and fab. all the parts you need and buy the kit you will have about 25,000 in it.

You can buy a real Hummer used for $30,000

I think everyone should get a hummer.

Just don't get anything else at the same time.

I thought about building one of these myself. Built on a Chevy truck chassis. $12,995 for the kit.

Yeah, but a real hummer is too wide and not gered great for civillian on road driving.  try the drive up teller at the bank, or a parking garage.  If you are looking for an SUV to drive around, the kit is better.   If you are looking for an off road, get stuff done vehicle, go with the original.

You mean someone would actually build a FAKE Hummer?   Jeez, that kinda reminds me of the kit cars of the `70's where you made a VW look like a Ferrari. Looks like crap, and performs about the same.

I'd own a real one, but my friends would laugh me out of the state if I had a fake!

Natty,

The reason you can't find the Bummer kit anymore is that the owner sold the rights to it to GM several years ago.  GM didn't want the Bummer kit to compete with the Hummer H2 and subsequently stopped making the kits.

I understand the the original Bummer owner is coming out with a new kit, but I don't think its ready for prime time.

Perhaps check the 4x4 boards at Pirate4x4 and Fourwheeler.com.

Regards,

Merlin

Urban Gorilla is still in business.

Smarty_pants, with all due respect, 5/8" makes all the difference in the world on an AR stock (A2 > A1).
