Nebraska. Learners permit. About 70 miles outside of North Platte, its a small town. She was Life Flighted to Scotts Bluff, then on to Denver Swedish memorial.
We're leaving in the AM as of now.

Well, we went home Thursday and dropped the kids off with the grandparents. Went up Friday morning from home (Ogallala, Nebraska).
She went into surgery Friday, it went well and no major problems. They fused her vertebra together, C4 and 5 were pressing up on C3. The doctors say if she can move her shoulders when its all said that would be about normal. The therapist was alot more optimistic, she was able to *barely* move her elbow while he was in there and he was really upbeat and positive about the whole deal.
So, as it stands now she might not be able to move anything below her shoulders. Realistically were thinking she will be able to move her arms, but she'll definately be in a wheelchair. At this point stem cell research wont do any good as her injuries are too high, but were hoping in the future maybe something will develop.
Looks like I'll be spending alot of time in Denver the next few months. At this point we're really just hoping for the use of her arms, and that something comes along with stem cell research. She's 15, shes young and has a hell of a strong will so I think she will be ready for whatever she has to do in therapy. Shes still in ICU at Swedish Hospital in Denver, and after that hopefully will be going to Craig for rehab.

Damn. I'll send prayers out, a little late but still heartfelt.
Link Posted: 1/4/2005 5:57:53 PM EDT
It's wierd how things can just happen and change your life.  I hope she excels in life.
Link Posted: 1/4/2005 6:05:38 PM EDT

Don't count her out. Doctors don't really know what will happen. I girl I know got shot in the spine when she was 18 and they told her she would never walk.  She's 26 now and walks OK. It was very rough though. The Lord never gives us more than we can bear. It just sucks to be strong. May God fill all of you all with his Peace.

Wow Man... Too young for that... More prayers outbound.
