I have a Linksys wireless router... Everytime I WEP secure this bad boy my laptop will connect fine and work great.... For ONE DAY The second time/day I try to log on nothing happens...All I get is the limited or no connectivity message. I can fiddle with it, reset it and it will work again, BUT ONLY FOR ONE DAY. This is driving me nuts. I usually just end up leaving it unsecure. Anyone?? |

What happens if you don't use WEP? Disable WEP and don't publish the SSID. Also configure the router to only allow authorized MAC addresses. Get the MACs from your client PCs and input them into the router config. If it only works for 1 day it could also be a DHCP lease issue. |
What happens is that anyone interested within transmitting range can see everything you send and receive. I could hijack someone's arfcom account. for example. if they were using no wireless encryption since the signin does not use SSL. The MAC thing is a deterrent but you can change your MAC address to get around that limitation. I'd try the firmware thing too. |

Yes, Yes, I know that but we are trying to get to the bottom of the problem first. See what works, what doesn't, and go from there. Chances are if you don't have a van parked outside your house with a tennis ball can hooked up to some wired pc (joking) you don't have to worry about it. |
OK firmware update done and it seems to be working fine... Well see tomorrow!!! Thanks for all the help guys. Tonster |
