That's a good way to put it.

My advice to someone picking the game up is try really hard not to watch the dude with the ball.  Watch all the guys around him and what they're doing to open up either space for him to pass or dribble into, or pull defenders one way or another and all the opportunities created from off the ball movement by both teams.

When you watch long enough, you can see a well put together goal coming.

Except for shit like this.  This was just outta fucking nowhere.

Coutinho goal vs Stoke

They are both great players but there is nothing individually either of them do that nobody else can.

I have to agree with ar-jedi.  Messi scored two free kick goals in less than 13 minutes at the UEFA Super Cup v Sevilla last Tuesday.  He also set up Pedro's game winner in extra time.

Messi is as complete a player as they come.
No so true for Ronaldo, but he is magical at times.
I would have really loved to see Ronaldo come to ManU, as I don't watch the Campions League often.

Yes, played many years too.  Had a 1-week tryout with FC Utrecht in '86.  I didn't say they aren't special players. I did say that there are others with great talent.  Neither one of them is as good as Maradona was, btw.

Surprisingly, I would appear to be leading the Fantasy league, again -- 41 points this week for 91 total and three Liverpool players still to play, including the Captain.

So unless someone really loaded up on Bournemouth players and something unexpected happens.

Kompany coming up big for you again.  He looked shaky last year, that was a good pick-up.

A Liverpool shutout would do well for me tomorrow as well.

I did loose 4 points with a transfer that I had to make, but watch out.

no worries.

jose said the result was "fake".

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jose-mourinho-claims-manchester-city-6264008

Jose Mourinho claimed that Chelsea’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City was “a fake result” and that his side should have got more from the game.

The Blues were roundly outplayed as first Sergio Aguero and then Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho found the back of the net.

But the Portuguese saw it very differently, claiming City’s domination was limited to before the break.

"The best team in the first half won the game,” he told Sky Sports.

“The best team in the second half was Chelsea for sure. We had a difficult first half, we didn't create a lot and our goalkeeper made a few important saves.

"Second half everything was different. If the 1-0 was a doubtful result at minute 70, 3-0 is completely fake. At 1-0 Chelsea were the best team for the whole second half.”

I don't think the Blues are as bad as they played but City crushed them.

i thought that quote was the result of "modern journalism" but i watched his interview on bbc, halfway down the page here, and -- yep, that's what he said, and he meant it.  jose is like steve jobs in that respect -- a DIY reality distortion field surrounds him.

ps
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/man-city-v-chelsea-match-6265449

For anyone who has ever previously watched a game of football, the outcome of the Manchester City v Chelsea game was pretty obvious.

Chelsea got HUMPED.

It wasn't just the 3-0 scoreline. Anyone with functioning eyeballs could have told you just how comprehensively City outplayed their opponents.

Anyone apart from employees of Chelsea Football Club, anyway.

Jose Mourinho's comments that 3-0 was "a fake result" raised a few eyebrows. Still, you might expect a manager like Mourinho to defend his players directly after a thrashing - even if his comments did sound borderline delusional.

What was perhaps more astonishing was the official match report that later appeared on Chelsea's website.

In Jose's defense, the Ramires offside goal very well could have been ruled onside. 1-1 does change the dynamic of the game.

That said, a "fake" scoreline?! Even as a Blues fan,

We got beat, fair and square... City outplayed us on the perimeter of the box, had much more assertive possession, and flat out owned the match. Fake?!

Benteke (the scorer) was not offside when the pass was struck. however, there is a EPL rule change this year on interpreting exactly what "interfering with play" means -- and the moment Couthino (who was offside when the pass was struck)  stuck out his foot in an attempt to play the ball and score, he was technically "interfering with play".  the goalkeeper had to react to the possibility that Couthino was not initially in an offside position, and although Couthino didn't touch the ball his presence (which again initiated from an offside position) changed the play via the goalkeeper's attention.

last year, that goal would always stand, as Couthino did not play (touch) the ball.
this year, that play should have been ruled offside because although Benteke was not offside when the pass was struck, Couthino was and he "interfered with play".

this is a very subjective problem in some instances, and the referee and linesman (singular in the case of offside) don't have the benefit of slow-motion HDTV at 7 different angles to make a judgement.

ETA here it is, perfectly shown:
when Hendo hits the ball, Benteke is onside, Couthino is offside.  if Couthino does *nothing*, and does not block the GK's line of sight, this is a valid goal every time.

I am stunned  24,402 out of 3.2 Millions entries world wide    Based on "I remember seeing him play" and percent of teams owning a player.  That also got me two players with no starts (one wasn't even a sub the first week), and Baines from Everton who is out until the fall.

You played with your head and not your heart.
I'm a ManU fan and picked Rooney out of loyalty to the team.
He has been unproductive, even with assists, and it's cost me points on the field, and with a transfer.
