I have been bouncing between a full quad rail and a simple bolt on rail.

I only want it for a VFG, but I am concerned that the pressure will weaken the rail, or cause the hand guards to loosen up...

What are your experiences with them?

I've used a bolt-on with a mid-length handguard to mount a VFG.

Never once did the handguard fall off, neither was the handguard compromised in any manner.

Use loc-tite and you should be okay.

I used a small bolt-on rail (maybe 3 inches in length) on a rifle-length standard plastic handguard and it was absolute shit, it wobbled horribly.

Well...I am in the same place I started...LOL

I have a set of Carbine handguards that are tight and flawless...I also have a set of M4 handguards (DPMS Glacer guards) that wobble a tad...I have a set of cheapo carbine also, but they wobble a lot.

I think I'm going to put a rail on the M4s and see if I like it.

I've got the Omega bolt on rail from Daniel Defense on one of my carbines.
So far it's still tight. Time will tell I guess.
